6 handed $1-$2 blinds.

i have  . i raise $25  folds round to one player who calls.flop comes  .how would you have played this flop?i decided to bet out $50.the other player thinks for a short while and re-raises to $200 and he is all in.i put him on maybe top pair with an ace high str8 draw at best,or possibly 2 pair.(thinking that with pocket kings or queens he would have reraised me preflop).i decide to call and he turns over  for the straight.the board didnt pair and he takes down a nice pot. did i play this hand badly?or should i have got away from it after the reraise of my bet on the flop?any comments or advice would be appreciated.

I'd need a bit more info about the player before saying what I could have done after he re-raised. also what was your stack like?

does he call pre flop with any 2 cards? you stuck in quite a hefty raise so I personally wouldn't have expected him to have 9-10 off. If he did have pocket queens or Kings he wouldn't have reraised you (Or atleast i probably wouldn't have as I would have tried to let you hang yourself)

You already gave the outcome of the hand so that makes it kindoff tricky to say "I would have called" without looking like a prat or "I would fold" without looking like a smart arse.

As soon as he reraised I probably would have though "Damn he called me with A 10"...that is not to say I would have folded here..that would depend on the player and whether I really believed he had ace ten.
I would be somewhat surprised (if not somewhat shocked) when he turned over 9-10 off...and I would think I'll get my cash back off him in the next few hands....but everything being equal I can't really blame you for thinking that trip jacks might be allright with the way some people play their KQ on a flop like that. (again, the call depends on how much you had in front of you...I wouldn't have done all my dosh in on the flop..but if you had enough to get that cash back then I might have made it)

thanks for the comments boldie.i have a decent enough bankroll so worrying about busting out wasnt an issue.it was a fairly loose agressive table-there was a good chance he might have had just middle pair for example.i cant really decide if i played it right or not-sometimes its just hard to get away from a hand i guess.

like I said my friend...if you had enough dosh at the tabel..I would have made the call to.
if people call a raise that high with 9-10  off then they'll do their money in sooner rather then later.

like i said-it was a VERY loose aggressive game with big stacks and people moving a lot of chips around.i like that kind of game sometimes.

if it was a loose game as u say then u have to accomodate the possibility he has the hand he wins with. but if it wasn't a loose game then u may have to get away from the hand because chances are he has you beat.

i wouldn't want to play at this table 12.5 x BB first raise. crazy.

I don't play cash but how can playing at a table where people call your 12.5BB raises when you hold KK be a bad thing.

Deffo call for me.

With the call preflop and on that board I put him on something like AK, AQ, AJ I don't have him on A T because I reckon he slow plays that on that flop.

Well I would have anyway, i'd be scared that if I come over the top in that position I may loose my customer.  My tendancy is to go with your though Winner that he was drawing to the Straight with a paired Ace.

Even if he's got a straight every single time here and you call the 150, you still show a small profit as you are getting 2-1 on your call and have just over 34% equity against a straight.

Of course he doesn't have a straight every time here. He will sometimes  have AK AQ AJ JT QT KT KQ KJ JQ and a rare bluff.  The great thing is, as you mentioned, he nearly never has the hands that crush you....QQ or KK due to the preflop action.

This is a call. When he's got the straight it's a slightly profitable call. When he's got anything else (bar the highly unlikely KK or QQ) you're a solid favourite.

6 handed $1-$2 blinds.

i have  . i raise $25  folds round to one player who calls.flop comes  .how would you have played this flop?

I would have either bet a tiny amount or trap-checked. He would have re-raised with K-K or Q-Q, so you're only behind to two hands, A-T or T-9s. Also, if you bet, the hands you're dominating that will call are K-Q, K-J and Q-J, and the latter two are unlikely due to three Jacks being out.

Therefore, don't be afraid to lure him. Let him hang himself, or at least catch up. It's a rainbow flop, so build the pot gradually and make him think there's some money worth playing for.

If he has the straight, then so be it, but at least by checking the flop or betting small, he might check behind you or smooth call, therebye giving you a chance to keep the pot small and hit a full house (which should get paid off) on the cheap.

No, you did nothing wrong. T-9 is so unlikely considering you raised pre-flop and so many people trap their straight when you bet out that you have to call if they move in. Too often they could have the two pair, an open ended straight draw or a bag of spanners. Add to the fact that you have outs if he's flopped the straight and it's a no brainer.

Don't beat yourself up. He's a mug for calling $25 (more than 12x the Big Bling!) with T-9o. Be glad that he's on your table.
