I went to a silver jubilee street party but don't remember it because I was very young. 

The Royal Wedding I remember well though.

stereos where u could put like 50 singles on at a time piled up held by the arm. and then youd play them all on 78 just for the craic lol

Street Party for the Coronation of H M, Queen Elizabeth II, (Princess Elizabeth as she was then).

TV? Liberace, Lord Boothby, Popeye, Sunday Night at the London Palladium, Rawhide, Bonanza.

Kids TV? Monday, Andy Pandy, Tuesday, The Woodentops, Wednesday, Bill & Ben, Thursday, Rag, Tag & Bobtail, Friday, Muffin The Mule.

The Wireless. The Billy Cotton Band Show, on the Light Programme. (Wakey waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakey!) The Goons. The Archers. Mrs Dale's Diary. (I'm worried about Jim). Journey into Space. BFPO. (British Forces Posted Abroad).

Childrens Hour on the Light Programme, Childrens Favourites, every Saturday morning at 9am, with Uncle Mac. Every week we had "There once was an Ugly Duckling" (Danny Kaye), "My word, you do look ill" (Bud Flanagan?), "With My Little Ukelele in my Hand" & "When I'm cleaning Windows" (George Formby), "You need hands" (Max Bygraves, or was it Alma Cogan?), The Dam Busters March, Billy Goat Gruff, Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud ( two guys, one of them in a wheelchair), and The Runaway Train (went over the hill & she blew, the runaway train went over the hill & she blew, the runaway train went over the hill - well you get the idea), "How much is that doggy, in the window, the one with the waggly tail". (Eat your heart out Oasis, Smiths).

Childrens Hour at 2pm every afternoon (though it only lasted 15 minutes). "Are you sitting comfortably?". "Yes". "Then we'll begin".......

The Telegram Boy, with his 125cc BSA Bantam Motorbike, delivering a telegram whenever someone in the family died.

The posh bloke 3 streets along - he had a car.

The Rag & Bone man.

The man who sharpened our knives.

The Milkman, he had a horse to tow his milk float.

We had a GRAMAPHONE, if you don't mind.

Albums included The King & I (Yul Brunner), The Sound of Music (Julie Andrews), and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. 

My first car - a Sit Up & Beg Ford Prefect 97E,  had an 8 track. Beat THAT.

lmao - of course I don't *remember* the big bopper - my mum and dad weren't even born when he was about!!  I would recognise a picture of Queen Victoria, but doesn't mean I remember her!!

I remember ITV taking to the air for the first time. Regional Stations included Anglia, Rediffusion, Southern, & Granada.

We used to rent our TV from Radio Rentals. (Weird name to rent a telly from).
