First, sorry to Ironside, I had to cut him off when he rang me because I was in the middle of chasing a nut flush, a sortie that cost me my first 2000 chips ( I had pot odds) Then the deck hit me in the face and I ran my 2nd 2000 up to 10,000 in two hands

I was mobbed by adoring fans, (well...Snoopy) during the break and forgot to ring him back, but I remembered as soon as we sat down again, so I rang to say i couldn't talk right now

soon after the re start, Tom 'The Fire' Burns moved all in on my bb, I looked down to find beautiful Aces, I called of course, and he flipped over 77. The first card off was an A, Tom didn't look worried, he must have known he would hit a 7 flush

It was the beginning of the end for me, the deck went as cold as a lawyers heart and I was blinded away

I have to say though I can thoroughly recommend the Broadway, the dealers were excellent the valets were fast and attentive, even the chairs were comfy. The comp was well run and Dik himself is very user friendly and willing to listen to the punters

There is also some quite lively cash action for the poor unfortunates that make an early exit

I plan to play at least one more event this week, I like the look of the £300 or, finances permitting, the £1000 freeze out

And I hope I'm not on Tom 'The Fire, Lucky Boll***s Burns' Table

Unlucky Red Dog,

Tom's just rang me to say he's gone out 22nd so he didn't manage to put ur chips in play on the final table. He hasn't mentioned playing in any other events so you'll probably dodge the lucky bugger...lol.

A couple of friends played the 100k at Star City but exited in the 90's. Apparently the cash tables were going to be lively there too...Birmingham is a hot bed of action right now!

Good luck in your next comp.

Will.

Does the £300 on Friday look likely to sell out ?

I arrived an hour early last night and there were 17 seats left for the 100.

I reckon if you get there in plenty of time on Friday, then you should be okay. But give them a ring beforhand just incase.

With regards to the comp:

Everything I touched seemed to turn to poo. I managed to double up against Koresh, KK v AQ when I trapcalled utg, but, apart from that, I never really won any big pots. A real mixture of bad play and bad timing.

I lost half my stack making a professional move. Unfortunately, these moves need to be against professional players. I ran into a loose passive player who'd flatcalled KQ suited on the button and checked the flush draw on the flop. I thought she was weak so I pushed in on the turn when I found an up and down straight draw. Amazingly, she didn't lay down her made flush. What a fish, eh? You pull out your best moves, and they still call with crappy hands like flushes. Bah!

Same player took some more chips off me just be4 the break when she flatcalled my raise with 10s. Remembering how she played the other hand, I didn't get too excited with my when a 2-2-3 flop came. She bet small. I called. It was checked down to the river. I put her on JJ, TT, 77, or 88.

I sat next to Splash, who quickly introdouced himself. Nice bloke and glad I met him. Things kinda went to pot for him too. I recall one hand where he lost most his chips with a flopped set. He slowplayed and then reraised on the turn. Unfortunately, he found a chaser who called with a flush draw, which then hit. Cue milky bet on the end that was too small for Splash to ignore.

My swan song came first hand after the break. Blinds were 2/4 and I had 14. I moved in from around trap 7 with Q8 suited. Always nice to see the button holding Kings. And the quads he hit really summed up my night.  Sad

Good points:

-- 'That was a gr8 sandwich' - RED-DOG
-- No registration fee
-- Free parking - I actually managed to get out of the car park within 30 mins this time!!!  Cheesy
-- Friendly staff
-- plenty of places to sit - very comfy too
-- good dealing

Bad points:

-- I found my dealer to be a bit abrupt at times. After I moved all-in and was called by a shorter stack, who held the winning hand. I took my stack to count out the chips. The dealer said 'Can you not put your hands in the pot' in an aggressive tone of voice. Bit rude I thought. I make an asserted effort to be polite to dealers so it always pisses me off when they are not pleasant to me.
-- We had to ask for top-ups. No-one told us. I believe they even passed one table by.
-- You could do with a last 3 hands warning
-- I think it's better to have the break after the buy-in period.
-- The female staff weren't quite as good looking as someone on here said they were. I'll let that 1 slide though.  Grin

Overall: A pleasant experience. My failure in the comp put a dampener on the night, but I still enjoyed myself. Would definitely go back. I heard several people say that they'd be willing to play at the Broadway regulalry as opposed to Walsall. Bit worrying for Grosvenor, but great news for Broadway. Get those weekend comps going and Walsall will really have something to think about.

There were three of us in London Poker caps, Snoopy.

I was the one in black taking beat after beat after beat when we'd had the add-ons.  Sat next to another London Poker cap wearer.  Table 5 I think.

Don't know about the aggressive tone, but the Dealer was right

I have been on tables where four or five people have their hands on the pot at the same time and I don't like it

I'm not opposing the dealer's decision.

It was the way in which he spoke to me.

2 people in the pot. I'd pushed my stack to the line. She said call. I said, 'How much is it?' and went to count it out. Nothing malicious. Just trying to be helpful. No problem with letting him do it. Just no need to be so abrupt with me.

Fair enough

I have to agree though. I do hate it when players dip there hands into the pot and start moving chips around.

Moments later they say, 'Ah, no, I've got that wrong.' lol  Grin
