by the way it isn't that bad... the new Jesmond
in your DREAMS maybe.
factually, was actually the OLD jesmond, being a shorter walk/carriage ride to the tyne where all the heavy industry was.
fenham is ok,but definately not ideal for walking around with ur poker stash.deffo use BLACK cabs.

I found this link to a list of hotels on the University website...
http://northumbria.ac.uk/static/5007/hotelguesthouselist0607.pdf
It lists several in the already recomended Osborne Rd, Jesmond area.

The Thistle Hotel is opposite Newcastle Station and is only 5 minutes walk from Aspers.
Rooms £50 a night (single). Enjoy.

....and there are few greater pleasures in life than a late night walk in Newcastle. Makes an old - (ish) man feel young again.

I too have just booked my room at the thistle.........But they rushed me 70 notes,
For a wheelchair friendly room, so I asked to include brekky, they said thats an extra 10,
So as shakespere said "He complainith most", to which they said, "OH that rate includes brekky"
See you alll there.

It's a beaitifully clean & modern place, No Smoking throughout as I recall, or maybe just smoking on the 7th Floor. Nice place..
