After checking out the trains, planes etc etc I was wondering if anyone is travelling up to Newcastle by car from the Worcester / Midlands area that would like to share the drive cost etc

As we have to be in situ by 2pm I believe an early start on Saturday or late Friday with an extra nights accomodation is in order.

Anyone found any good deals on hotels?

PM or replies greatly recieved

Try using google for nearby Hotels to Aspers, whch is located in The Gate, in Newcastle, opposite St James Park.

"thegatenewcastle.co.uk" in google ought to do the trick.

I gather hotel rooms are hard to find in Newcastle on APAT weekend, so I'd advise booking early.

I plan to stay at the "Uncle Clive" hotel.
As he lives in Gosforth I will pack my bullet proof vest lol.

If I bust early I will toddle off to Seaham and get drunk with my old school mates.

The Thistle Hotel in Newcastle is opposite the station and 5 minutes walk from Aspers. Rooms around £50 per night (single)

Mel, after we clean up at the 7.30pm £20+£2 F/O tourney at Aspers on Friday, i expect there will be much EV+ just lying around to be picked up in the Thistle bar over the weekend.

On the other hand you will see some of the filthiest poker variations known to man (or woman) being played. Just look around in the bar for a fat, ginger, bar-steward (think Greg Raymer and you've got it) and ask for a game of "Blind Man's Bluff, Range Rover Poker".

I guarantee that you'll have a few people choking into their beers. See you there!
