Is it just me or was poker on TV much more interesting when you couldn't see the players hole cards. It was cool on the original series of LNP when you didn't see some players hands maybe until the turn. You'd be sitting there, thinking to yourself "Jesus, Karesh must have flopped a set" after he raises the turn, then the hole cam reveals jack high!!

I'd rather not have everyone's active hole cards up on the screen. I want to try and work things out for myself. I think you also get to see more logic behind some players bad calls when you don't have the benefit of seeing the other guys cards during the hand. Folded/mucked hands can always be shown afterwards. The 98 WSOP final hand is one of the most engaging hands ever seen on TV and it was before hole cams.

I can understand that for someone not that farmiliar with the game it might seem boring if you don't know what's going on, but the audience is much more grown up now. If it was shown on Digital you might even get an option to watch the show with or without hole cards on screen.

so which would you prefer?

BTW, am I just thick or is there no way to attch a poll to a post on blonde?

other option for poll, is shoe hole cards post flop, turn, or river

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

watching poker with no hole cards is like watching paint dry. get some of the old wsop dvd's off ebay. I've got them going back to the 1800s nearly but they are almost unwatchable so I've only bothered with a couple. On the EPT shows they play one hand as if you were a player maybe they could do it a few times per show?

the problem with tv poker is that they are still showing sngs where you start with 40-50 BBs when everyones bored of that now and would prefer to watch deep stacked cash. imo.

I think I would prefer to see just a single persons' hole cards, would give you a lot of insight into his/her thinking, and at the same time make it more interesting. A bit like reading Matt's, Pab's and other people's tournament histories.. maybe show everyone's elses cards after the hand is over, but even then that's only optional.

i can see a market in interactive tv poker programs of the future where you will be able to choose which player at the table you would like to be for a particular hand, and you can only see their hole cards. would give a better insight into the game.
