Hi

At a showdown is it a courtesy or a requirement that the player with the winning hand shows all his cards or is it sufficient to show only the card or cards that make up the winning hand.

Thanks

My personal opinion is that ALL cards must be shown to be awarded the pot, although thats not a requirement at the club i work for, but i am trying to change it Smiley

At every club I have been to it has been a requirement for the winning hand to be shown in its entirety.  Cards speak, and it's both an anti-collusion and possible mistake allaying rule too.  No grey area, for once!

In my experience the dealer always requests that both cards be shown to claim the pot.

Both cards should be shown because in the unlikely event that the deck is fouled this may be evident at that point.

I dont see the problem with only showing 1 card if that 1 card gives you the winning hand in a cash game.  Ill usually verbally declare what I have and then show if needed.

You mean some times they let you take the pot just on your declaration without showing?

Where do you play?? Wink (and directions from the jungle if possible)

I'm not sure you'd want to play there.

"I've got a full house"

"show me"

"Are you calling me a liar, stranger?"

Pause....

Table, cards and chips go flying as guns are drawn...

there'd be no need for all that - the paired board that gave you the full house brought me four of a kind...........
