No, it's not a stadium name deal, and they're not looking to 'sell-out' to the highest bidder.  The board have been looking for investors for quite a while, and haven't found anyone suitable.  They don't want it to be like the manure situation, they want people who have a genuine interest in the club going forward - which is why plenty of potential deals have not come to fruition.

This is my point. It doesn't seem reasonable to be asked to invest tens of millions for no real say in what happens because of a smaller shareholding than the Moores family. I'm not saying I want to sell out or I think we should. I just think investors for this type of deal will come few and far between.

I hate saying this but other clubs "selling out" has improved them no end. In the long run we may have to rethink our investment policy.

I know what you mean, but there is apparently a very good deal that is close to happening very, very soon.

Moores and Parry get criticised about how they do some things at Liverpool, and how it's holding us back.  There are things I'd like to see change, but there are some changes i'd rather not see as well.

At least we haven't 'done a Leeds', and we won't do a manure or a Hearts (what is happening there?!?).  We need the money, but it has to be right.

We need a new stadium that's for sure.

No Zenden for 5 weeks.

Looks like Agger, Carra or Sami as the holding player. Great.

Ronaldinho would not win as many matches individually as gerrard's contributions will for liverpool.

Superb player but he is the icing on the cake. Gerrard IS the fking cake.

But he's not the only cake in the shop (stopping this analogy here).

Barca would be unlikely to swap their midfield for Liverpool's, so they can afford to have Ronaldinho as the superstar. Liverpool seem to need Gerrard on form as their superstar to keep themselves in contention lately.

You can argue whether gerrard is the best all-round midfielder in football. I personally think he is, but i realise debates like that are always contentious and people champion their personal favourites.

What is less debatable is whether any player could bring more to Liverpool than Gerrard. Liverpool have built the successes they have had over the last few years squarely on the back of his contribution. He has won many key games almost by himself. He could have left for chelsea and the majority of players in today's game would have. But he showed a rare loyalty to his club.

He doesn't fk about getting drunk in town and getting in fights on the street. And he can pass, shoot, cross, finish, run, defend. Word has it they don't bother giving him drugs tests anymore as he just pisses out pure dom perignon.

Ronaldinho has some qualities that gerrard doesn't. He dribbles better, he has better close control and can score unbeleivable goals that no one else in the world can, a la his goal the other night. Plus he does a far superior goofy impression.

But he wouldn't bring as much to liverpool as gerrard, someone whose heart and soul as well as immense talent are dedicated to the club.

Having said all that, I'd love to see them play together though.

I actually think Gerrard is wasted in Liverpool. sure the fans adore him (who doesn't?) but a player like that should be in a team that has a shot at winning a title and be in contention for the top honours every season. Untill Liverpool get their academy or finances sorted and bring in some other top class players  I'm afraid he won't reach the great heights everyone knows he could.

Why is he wasted?  Is winning the league everything?  Reach the great heights - I think he's done that.  The title would be the cherry on the icing of the cake...

Should all the best players go and play for chavski or Real?  That'd make football pretty boring.

As a fan, no I wouldn't swap Gerrard.
However, if Liverpool ever sold him they would be screwed.

We could buy a fair few players for £50 million.

There are definitely certain players at clubs that the fans would never want to swap for anyone, Henry at Arsenal & Larsson at Celtic spring to mind.

Gerrard is also one of those players & you can see why as hes a fantastic player but nothing is forever & if the right offer comes along that suits both parties (club & player) then it can be the catalyst for a new era, assuming of course that the proceeds of any sale are spent wisely.

Ronaldinho for Gerrard would be a better move for Gerrard than Liverpool IMO.

no I don't think all the best players should go and play for chelski or real..I think Liverpool should make more of an effort to improve. It pains me to say I just don't see that ATM. and I can only blame the board for that.

You're singing the same tune as the Celtic fans over Larsson. Of course Larsson went to Barca and showed his worth. Sore when he left us, but we were delighted for him with how his Barca career finished. Would Liverpool be the same if Gerrard decided to do the last couple of years with a bigger challenge?

Surely the 'bigger challenge' would be staying with Liverpool and trying to win the league there?

Ballack and Shevchenko haven't gone to chavski for the 'challenge'.  Glory and money maybe, but not the challenge.

That's irrelevant.  How is going to a club that has the resources to buy the league a 'bigger challenge'?

Our academy is one of the best in the world. The players it has churned out are excellent. Owen, Fowler, Gerrard, Carragher. With the exception of Man U which other club can boast the same talent from the academy in recent years?

Gerrard has won EVERY major honour except the league. A lot of players at "more successful" clubs would kill for his medal collection. I cant name you the teams that played for most of the season when Liverpool won the league the last 5 times but I know everything about the European Cup triumphs. I know what I'd rather win. What I'll be remembered for.

It would be very easy for me to say Henry is wasted at Arsenal after Barca's offer (where he would be challenging for Major honours every season) but I'm sure he wouldn't agree with me if I did say it. (Which I wont)
