I genuinely love to cook.
Love the tag line ginger btw- shouldnt it be something to have dinner with but then they give you a headache and make you feel rough the day after?

LOL, I may just end up adding that little extra to my tag
On a quick note to Suze, hun, if you are having that bad a time of it, you need more help than you are getting now. I know from experience how bad it can be and have found a resolution to my own problem/symptoms, thankfully I have been totally free of any part of that side of being a woman for 5 years now and long may it continue! Ariston is correct though, don't play when you know you are hormonal, or use that aggression to your advantage!

Serious advice- Don't play when emotionally unstable. If you play when you know you aren't of sound mind then you will not play well and will waste 3 good weeks work with one week of madness.
Its true and thats exactly what I do...I am aware that I do this and if I remember to countdown then I play low stake so in theory it will not effect my bankroll.
Unfortunatly it doesnt always work as I get even madder at being beaten by numpties on a $1 stt so I go on 25/50 cash even though my brain is SCREAMING..dont do this.

I sooooo need to go to the docs coz i have so many health problems but I have a bit of a phobia about doctors.
Last time I went was a couple of years ago about a really bad eye infection, i was given drops that didnt work and went back, was given antibiotics the second time and it still didnt clear it so i now live with it. I suspect I have diabetes but from what I have read on the net the doc is only going to tell me to give up on all the things I love LOL.
The hormonal thing is what worries me the most..I get so bloody NASTY and then I have to apologise for being such a cow, I am now getting to the stage where I think ffs.....throw the pc out the window and lock all the doors.
I know I need to see the doc and hopefully i will find the courage soon.

If you suspect you are diabetic you must go to the doctors immediately Suzanne. Don't see it as being told to give up everything you love it just means you have to be more careful. There are different kinds od diabetes and it may well be you just need a slight change to your diet or even take a tablet every day but its not something that will go away, if you have it you have it for life.

yes you shouldnt be mucking about if you think you have diabeties. you might even get some good news and get something else for yours eyes. you dont need to suffer like this either around your hormones. tantrum gave you some sound advice there and you should also tell the doctor. you would see your life improve a lot with just a little effort
good luck and let us know how you get on

Absolutely, what ariston and mad said.
AS to your doctor phobia, why don't you make a first step and call NHS direct, and explain your situation, they might be able to help you find someone to talk to and find a doctor who will be symphatetic to your problems? I am sure if you don't want to go to the GP surgery, they might find someone who would come to your house. worth a try. Diabetes is an illness and if
untreated
can lead to kidney failures/blindness and lower limb amputations. the pros of being properly diagnosed and treated outweight the cons.
As to your hormons, often your thyroid function (among other things- but this one is fairly common) can lead to hormonal imbalance, but proper treatment and diagnosis can change your life.
GL with that and if you need any more help send me a PM anytime.

I have the opposite problem, I don't get aggresive, I just feel miserable and down and think every hand can be beaten and that I am rubbish and I should give up.
Outcome is the same - I lose

Echo, echo: we have a history of diabetes in our family, I have seen first hand how bad it can get if one doesn't treat the matter with all due seriousness.
Please, Suz, don't avoid the doc if you think you might be diabetic.

Is it really that serious?
I have looked it up on the net and its not the serious "inject insulin type" but I am showing all the signs for the milder version.
From what I have read the doc will only tell me to eat more fruit and veg, drink and smoke less and the dreaded word EXERCISE lol.

I get what I call a 'red rage' a bit like road rage every now and again due to hormones/life/work and anything else that makes me tilt. Last week I played 3 satts for the CPC even though I knew it was a lost cause, because whatever I had the money was going in. Today I heard my Grandad died and the money will be going in all day- somehow (even though I know it doesn't help) it fuels something in the brain.
I don't think its just a hormone thing - I think it's a human thing.

Untreated diabetes is serious, but you are self diagnosing yourself anyway. If you might think you have one level, the risk is that untreated will turn into other level and you will either end up having to use insulin injections for rest of your life or if untreated - read above possible outcomes.
DOCTOR = PRONTO
Please accept my condolences Dingdell.

Hi Suze
I've had diabetes now for about 8 months. I went to doctors because I was feeling tired most of the time and was very hormonal. Doctor sent me for 3 blood tests (all done at same time)
and when the results came back I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes which is the most common part of diabetes.
I was given metformin which is a tablet to help the diabetes, but unfortunately my body didn't like it and I had 5 of 7 side effects so went str8 back to doctors who then prescribed me glicazide which i'm fine with.
The nurse gave me a very good information sheet which basically told me to eat lots of bread, pasta , potatoes and starchy food as it helps and to drink lots of water, and sugar free drinks
and lost about 2 stone in 5 weeks
My pmt went when I altered my diet, its now a case of to really watch the sugar content of what you're eating/drinking but other than that now have to go to docs every 3 months for check ups and regular blood tests.
My next test is to find out if the tablet is enough, or I may have to inject which will not be good as I have a phobia with needles
but i'm sure it will work out in the end
Definately go see your doc str8 away.

to be honest i don't know why poker players hate Exercise, healthy living etc. I find the way i play after an hour of 5 aside, or and 20 mile bike ride so much better. I find a balance of good quality food and excercise compliments poker. (saying that my best ever run was when i tore my hamstring twice and couldn't move more than 10 feet for 6 weeks). If you get a balance in other things your positive outlook will automatically spill over to your poker. I'm starting to think positive thought can have a lot to do with poker. Look at the players who have done really well in a short space of time esp in big on line mtt, they always seem to helpful happy individuals with healthy intrestest outside poker, they also often have young kids, and that seems to add a 'happy' factor to there game.
Take reddog as an example, I've never met him in person, and only shared a table in passing once i think.
He seems to put a lot into his family unit, has an intrestest in almost everything!, seems resourceful, is always up to something outside of poker, seems to take lifes experiences and use them for the better. Now i bet he never sits down at a mtt and thinks..............."Oh well here we go 400 idiots to wade through" or " i bet i get AA 5 hands in and it gets busted". I may be wrong but i suspect its more like, "I'm looking forward to this", or "what sort of time will the FT be starting".
I know he has a razor sharp wit, and thats got to help.
wow I've wandered OT there.
but i think the general gist is poker is a game we play to enhance our life, where as we should enhance our lives to play the game.
