Im looking for a good mountain bike as im taking up cycling on my steps to becoming super fit (O.K lose a few pounds round my beer belly would do)

Just wondering if any body knew of a decent web site and what brand i should look for (or stay away from)

I have googled and came up with 2 sites that look good but was wondering if any one had used one they could recommend.

Thanks
Jim.

I got a Marin Rocky Ridge a couple of years ago after reading a zillion different reviews. It's a great bike but I get the impression that I have nowhere near as much fun as Red Dog has on his.

Jim, do you want to use it mostly on or off road?

Whatever you buy, make sure it fits you properly

There are plenty of bargains on Ebay, and Halfords do a decent range, also see the small adds in the local papers.

One you have made the initial purchase, it's easy over time to replace worn out parts with better quality ones.

I have two under used bikes in the garage, at least they can keep each company during the long months that I ignore them...
