Series 3 will be equally frustrating, so much so that I'll once again be salivating for the start of Series 4
Surely that is indicative of a
good
series ending?
Not in the immediate aftermath of the episode ending!

Oddly enough, the final episode of Twin Peaks was a bit cobbled together as the series was cancelled at short notice.
Same with The Prisoner
.
...which would have been my first vote, except I thought that would be too obvious...
I really liked the end of Lost S1; I found the end of Lost
a little more disappointing though. However, neither of those 'endings' constitutes a true end, since the show is still ongoing.
Worst ending? Last episode of Friends.

Worst ending? Last episode of Friends.
Considering the absolute stinkers that Friends had towards the end of its run, I actually thought the finale was an improvement.
I must mention Seinfeld, (the court case bringing back old characters as witnesses was inspired) and Frasier, which managed what Blackadder didn't in being very touching without being horribly heavy-handed.

I thought the last episode of blackadder 4 was moving myself.
They always ended the series on a dark note with blackadder dead and tieing it in here with him finally being forced over the top, having managed to avoid doing so all series seemed perfectly apt.
The prisoner ending is vastly improved if you are tanked on booze or other narcotics. I felt like this was a sad way to end such a brilliant series. I still shudder everytime i see a large white balloon.

Good shout Baz, I remember a thread on here a good while back about shameless... Did you know that it was written by Paul Abbot who is Kev O'Connells Cousin ? and was based on his memories of growing up on a rough council estate in Burnley.

My favourite big ending to a TV series was that of Blakes 7. The whole of the 4th series seemed to have been written just to give Paul Darrow as Avon the opportunity to see how far over the top he could make the closing line of each episode. Examples such as " I neeeeeeeed to kill her MYSELF" , "End game to Belkov" and "As you are always saying Vila.......you know you are safe ...WITH ME" stick with me now nearly 30 years later.
The final episode surpassed this though without him even saying a word.
Picture the scene....he's just found Blake, who despite the series title has actually been missing for two series!, and due to some confusion has just shot him for what he thinks is betrayal.
Blake, the legend!, slumps to his knees, grips Avon and with his dying breath gasps, "Oh Avon I was waiting for you!!" before slumping to the floor quite dead.
At this point Federation troopers storm the building , kill Avon's mates while he just stands there, before encircling him with guns raised.
What does our hero do? Well having realised now he's killed his best mate in error, he just steps one foot over Blake's dead body and raises his gun to confront the troopers.
Then the camera closes in on his face...and in a gesture that says more than a thousand words ever could.........he gives a little smile!
End of episode, end of series, end of Blakes 7....................cut to music

What about the best end to one particular series of a TV show.
The cliffhangers, they're always better.
You know, before the show went stale, before they had to end coz they were running dry crap.

The end of series 1 of the West Wing. The shooting of the presidential party walking back to the limos.
You knew Bartlett wasn't going to die but werent sure if the other main characters were all to survive..

The end of Series 2 was spoiled for me somewhat. All about whether Jed would run for re-election or not with his MS.
I bought a boxset called Series 1-6 The Bartlett Years. Kinda gave it away.
Still, great show.
Oh, and in case you were wondering.. "Crime, boy I dunno" is when I decided to kick your ass.

One of the best lines of the entire 7 series.
Shame it came to an end
