Yeah sorry to hear that fella..... Nothng worse than getting kicked when your down..

I was dozing on the couch and I heard a story on Granada Reports ( North West ) about a car deliberately driving into another car, the car had a baby in it. Is this the case that was on the news? Anyone know?

I couldnt wake up and come around quick enough to figure it out, and when i asked the wife she said I wasnt dreaming it but she wasn't paying attention

Hi guys

Thought I would give you an update. Had to visit the Police Station on Saturday to be informed that the nice gentlemen who had the altercation with wants to proceed with pressing charges against me.

As a further kick in the teeth they confirmed that his partner has refused to issue a statement in my defence. They didn't mention the cctv quality which slightly worries me, but that will all come out in due course I suppose.

Looks like I am off to court, which I think may cost me my job (but that is another story).

Rumour has it is the guy is well known where I work for being a Junkie, criminal etc - so the past won't help him - but then again I don't know anymore- am so unhappy with the situation - but will lsay I don't regret a thing - I would do it again!!!!!!!

I was happy to let it end, and for him to drop his charges and I would drop mine- but he isn't willing.

Pissed off, annoyed and pretty disgusted with life at the mo.

Sorry for ranting

Rant away Smithy. That's shocking, eventually the decision on whether the case goes ahead will not be his, or the police but the PF (or English equivalent). Hopefully they'll throw it out.

Fingers crossed for you.

Get a good brief, and get plenty of character witness statements from people who know you personally.

Fingers crossed for you mate...

PS. perhaps get the local press involved, they love a "have a go hero" story, and public opinion could be your friend.

Sorry to hear that Smithy.

If he is the type you describe, he will probably be after the compensation rather than anything to do with the pursuit of justice.

I'd still be amazed if any conviction came out of it. No doubt your lawyer will be wanting to have a view of the CCTV as soon as possible, not to mention getting a full run down on the background of your assailant.

I think Rod is correct that ultimately the file goes to the Crown Office and they make a decision on whether to proceed. So just because he wants to press charges doesn't mean it will go ahead.

Don't lose sight of the fact you were doing a good turn, and he whacked you first. With that in mind, I presume the police are going to also pursue him for assaulting you, and well as a reckless driving charge for ramming the other car.

You're a good man, you know you did the right thing.

In the worst case scenario, if you lose your job, get a fine/custodial sentence, and your family fall out with you and the maniac gets let off.

If all those bad things were to happen, I'm sure you'd still prefer it than standing blithly by and watching a man use his car as a weapon to permanently injure a woman and child.

Have you asked the police to investigate his assualt on your good self with a weopon and intent to cause GBH?

This will help your case, seriously, becasue this will then prove you were defending yourself and dissarming an assailaint.

BTW is this the case that was on Granada Reports the other day?

Should have put that in the earlier post really- sorry.

He has been charged with the assault, 2 driving offences - plus he was driving with no insurance or tax.

I am starting to feel abit better about it, and am not so down on myself - as with all this stuff going on in Ipswich if someone was attacking my missus, and everyone stood by and did nothing I would give my left arm for someone to get involved. I have decided I would rather get involved, than stand by and do nothing.

It may come back and bite me in the ass , but I did it for the right reasons and I am not ashamed.
