THATS progress for ya.
My first car was a vauxhall Viva , then a fiesta - open up the bonnet and fix it urself jobbie.
NOW,,, open the bonnet,, and have trouble where to put the oil!!!!
My first was was a chevette estate now that was style.
I also found the same issues with motorbikes used to have kawasaki z750s of the old style (no computer chips) never any garage bills, then i fell in love with a brand new Triumph tiger 955i never ever done any work on that except lubeing the chain and fluid levels.

Yet another example of progress,,,and I am sure they do this on purpose.
On my car, there is a metal pipe (part of the coolent system) which is at the front of the car in front of the radiator. This now needs replacing, and to get at it, you have to take the front end of the car off!!
Metal pipe ffs!!! Just where it will catch alot of water and rust/corrode.

Yes I have an Audi - easy to take the front end off, but VERY time consuming for a job that takes approx 5 minutes to connect the new pipe!

Yeah.... I agree...Is it an A4.
If and when you get the pipe done, you may as well get the cam belt done st the same time. Just something to bear in mind, that may save you about £500

"Vauxhall Vivas coverd in rust be you cant **** your bird on the 29 bus"
No offence meant

I had an A4 years ago with the same problem - believe it was the crankshaft position sensor that was wonky.
also if you get the front end taken off, you better get the water pump and the thermostat done. Cos the stat wil go eventually.

Of course not.
