As I'd got a good result in Friday's satelite (or to quote Kev, been a "fecking card rack"), I said I'd play the Saturday one as well, but got a better offer (birthday party for a barmaid in my local). I ended up calling my Dad & got him to play for me (he got 6th and is chuffed with himself).

As there were a few people making comments in the chatbox (booder, Kev  Roll Eyes ) my computer illiterate Dad called my Mum to type in and confirm that it wasn't me playing & she ended up watching the game for the first time. The chat and the friendliness of the game got her interested & she played her first stt last night, getting 3rd, so now, the Paradise clan on BPL will have R Paradise, JParadise & Ma Paradise,  a veritable school I suppose you could call it

I've also been told to bring a chipset home for Xmas, so I can see a familly poker tourney after Xmas dinner.

My Mum started off very negative about this poker lark (like most Mums I suspect), but has been won round by the enjoyment I take from the game & the stories of the people I'd come in contact with through it. The final step to playing herself though is down to the blondeites, so cheers folks,  thumbs up

You do realise that when your Mum loses the last of the housekeeping to a runner-runner straight she's going to blame it all on you?

I think everyone's found this (well most people from the sounds of things).  My parents were 'worried' about me and my brother playing  - and I remember one conversation in a Chinese restautant getting quite heated.

It's more down to a lack of understanding of the game, and they were slowly coming round to see that it wasn't the same as   the pit games in terms of the role of luck and skill.

It also helps to win a tourney - then they are suddenly very proud of you and start telling everyone about their son's poker wins.

God forbid if my folks start playing though...

Same here. My Dad 'daddypoppet' first signed up to play the Blonde Bash satellite and then my Mum joined the forum as PoppetsMum and is now addicted to playing on bpl! My 16 year old sister has even downloaded bpl so she can watch games.

Not forgetting Leons family, they're all hooked, Leons sister and her boyfriend turned 18 in September and the first thing they did was not go out on the town and get pished... but they signed up to the casino and played a £2 rebuy!

We're all poker-crazy!

Just like to say a big thankyou to Rod.

In a satellite when Rod won his seat we were 3 handed with "Jedwick" and Jed was having terrible connection problems which meant niether of us wanted to nick his blind til he got it sorted, Any way without the steal play available to me i was getting chipped away meaning i had to push against Rod which aint good sat play to mix with the BIG chip leader (which he won when i pushed)

Any way i didnt think anything of it as thats a peril of internet poker (and id probably bad played myself to bubble anyway),  But just after the sat had finished i had a PM from Rod saying that 20% of him in the main tourney was mine as a good will gesture.

The guy is a star..Thankyou.

Dangers of your Mum starting to play online poker....

Phonecall from MaParadise: "Rod, I was playing today and there was someone else at the table with the same picture thingy as you, and her name was Rod's Girl. Are you keeping secrets from me?"
"Ma, there's over 9000 people play on the Tribecca site, from all over the world"
"Oh, I thought they were all from that forum you're never off".

The home's looking more and more likely  Roll Eyes

wow, now there's a coincidence. Was playing last night and came across somebody playing under the name "Rod's mum", we ended up having quite a conversation, including the occasional embarrasing baby picture being thrown in.

T'was quite amusing to see you with hair!! Wink
