Prisoner cell block H ruled.

"The freak."

Bea Smith.

Wobbly walled sets.

And of course....

"She used to give me roses,
I wish she could again,
but that was on the outside
and things were different then....."

I used to bowl into school twenty minutes late, with dishevelled clothes and red eyes 'cos I'd been up till 2 watching the late runs of PCH.

Good call Tighty!!!   Also gives me the chance to repost my contribution to the best end to TV series again!!  Now that's what I call posting vallllllooooooooo  !!

6   General Category / General Discussion / Re: Best end to a TV series  on: December 07, 2006, 11:26:41 pm

My favourite big ending to a TV series was that of Blakes 7.  The whole of the 4th series seemed to have been written just to give Paul Darrow as Avon the opportunity to see how far over the top he could make the closing line of each episode.  Examples such as " I neeeeeeeed to kill her MYSELF" , "End game to Belkov" and "As you are always saying Vila.......you know you are safe ...WITH ME" stick with me now nearly 30 years later.

The final episode surpassed this though without him even saying a word.

Picture the scene....he's just found Blake, who despite the series title has actually been missing for two series!, and due to some confusion has just shot him for what he thinks is betrayal.

Blake, the legend!, slumps to his knees, grips Avon and with his dying breath gasps, "Oh Avon I was waiting for you!!" before slumping to the floor quite dead.

At this point Federation troopers storm the building , kill Avon's mates while he just stands there, before encircling him with guns raised.

What does our hero do?  Well having realised now he's killed his best mate in error, he just steps one foot over Blake's dead body and raises his gun to confront the troopers.

Then the camera closes in on his face...and in a gesture that says more than a thousand words ever could.........he gives a little smile!

End of episode, end of series, end of Blakes 7....................cut to music

DAH DAH DAAAAHHH,    DAHHH DAHH

Has drama ever got any better?

I love you. Platonically. Almost as much as I love Ian Hume, but more than I love Rob Kelly.

......have to laugh...or I'd be very scared!   Wink

Actually talking of love........I thought Servalan ( Jacquie Pearce ) looked fantastic on that programme, it's nearly 30 years later but she didn't look anything like as old as she must be

How about Monkey? An absolute classic, but can anybody remember the program that use to be sandwich between Tuckers Love and Monkey on BBC2 on a monday night, which was an early version of the Crystal Maze and had a bloke that used to speak backwards and always said "Doog yrev"?

The final game always used to be the one where the player would move one spot then the deadly beam of light would move and if you got to the otherside you won. Currency was red circles and green hexagons. Great fun!
