I wile away some time every day keeping myself occupied whilst folding in whatever online game I am playing that day.

One of methods of doing so, besides writing, working and blonde-ing, is reading and sometimes i find the odd something that amuses me.

In this month's "Q" magazine, a favourite of mine, there is an album review....

The artist is theatrical singer and one time pop star Michael Ball who has apparently just released an album of cover versions, no doubt designed to appeal to middle aged women everywhere (and tikay) in time for Xmas.

This, in its entirety, is the review

"Yes that Michael Ball slaughtering that Rainbow Song (Since you've been gone). Other tracks decimated on this album include R E M's Everybody hurts"

that's it. What a superbly concise review. Wonderful!

It rivals my favourite film review ever, talking about the film of The Da Vinci Code

it simply says

"Its not as bad as you've heard. It's worse"

"Yes that Michael Ball slaughtering that Rainbow Song

Now i would pay big time to see him sing this - especially with the original cast!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFbL3cxliDA

Up above the streets and houses, rainbow climbing high,
Everyone can see it smiling over the sky.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

All along the streams and rivers, shining in the lakes,
See the colours of the rainbow as the morning breaks.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

Red, the colour of a sunrise, white clouds floating in a sky of blue,
Green for the rivers, Gold for the cornfields, the day is shining new.

Red, the colour of a sunset, grey shadows creep across the hills,
The sun is sinking, colours are fading, the fields are dark and still.

Take some green from a forest, blue from the sea,
Find the misty pot of gold, and mix them for a week.
Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

Red, the colour of a sunrise white clouds floating in a sky of blue,
Green for the rivers, gold for the cornfields, the day is shining new.

The all time most concise album review - Yes's eponymous debut album reviewed in, I think, the NME.

"Yes? Probably."

I sent the following email to a couple of mates in July this year, titled 'The Best Album Review...Ever!' after reading that week's NME:

Page 43 of this week’s issue has the following gem:

Def Leppard – ‘Yeah’ (Mercury)

Nah!

Later to be followed by TOTO. (Tales of Topographical Oceans). The pretensiousness of 70's & 80's rock was something to behold.

Emerson Lake & Palmer were prime culprits, too - "we are GODS" .......

Just going back to michael ball's song , there is actually a video to it and if you find it you will be in stitches because it is worse than the song.

I only know this because GMTV played it one morning.

Honest!
