OK, it's a 50p post, I don't mind admiting it and it's worth it as I just have to post it.  It's the biggest cash pot I've ever lost (and probably would have been my biggest win if I'd won) but do you get away from the hand or am I always doomed?

I'm not so sure I played this that well.  The checking the flop was brave and I think I may have been slightly tilting for a moment which is why I bet the turn.  Calling the flop raise was really a moment of 'it's either I'm getting something back tonight or I'll go home empty' type call.

First one I lose my stack , although I bet the flop and prob get in on the turn.
2nd one I fire chunky bet on the flop , you cannot check top set on that board.

Hand 1 is just tough titty you cant help but get your reddies in.
Hand 2 would you of called for the full amount on the river if you had of
 been deeper stacked.

Paired boards are horrible for flushes when your opponent has shown strength through every street. I am probably not passing (except to all in) but why did you bet the river?

The pot was plenty big enough for 0.5/1 without the nuts. If you check call it probably costs you £15 instead of £70.

That said if you believe that you are miles in front, then you should have wanted the pot as big as you could get it and if you think you are behind pass, only your history with the other player would help here and we are not privvy to that info. IF its a marginal "He might have the full boat" then I think check-call is preferable.

I like the river bet. It's a typical blocker/value bet.

However as long as you know your opponent isn't a complete fool, then it's an easy fold to the re-raise.

Mind you I'd probably say the same about the second hand too, when you called and won. (You should bet the flop on this hand though.)
