Had a conversation with an american last night about this very thing. He had a nut flush and after slow playing it, his opponent moved in on the river, he called immediately obv with the nuts and proceeded to type in 'thank you.' I hate that, so I typed in 'nh, but no need to disrespect other player's moves'. He proceeded to grow angry at the thought his comments were rude and that it is only a part of the game. A little later, I sucked out on a guy and typed in 'ul mate'. He then berated me saying unlucky mate was the same as thank you.

Any one agree with him? I am curious

The most irritating thing you can say in the chatbox is "sorry" after you have made a fkin awful call and hit your miracle.

you are NOT sorry, you called because you wanted to win the fkin hand !!!! so why rub it in and say sorry when you do.

UL is fine in my mind .... but I really really hate "sorry"

I agree, I don't like sorry.  I don't really like nice hand if it's not a nice hand either.  Nice flushes aren't nice hands, Royal flushes and quads are nice hands imo, and even then the person has to be using both cards that he holds and not 4 from the board, although I may say well played if they played it well.

I don't say unlucky either as it doesn't help I don't think.  Certainly wouldn't dream of saying thank you to someone that paid me off.

You really want to rub somebody down a treat type in

"nh ul gg"

all at the same time.  thumbs up

It's a big world, lots of different types in it. The best thing to type if you don't want to upset people is probably absolutely nothing. Especially when you win a pot, the loser may choose to get himself worked up at anything.

We should all please ourselves though, I know of nobody who ever got a chat ban for typing "ul" so keep doing it.

I always say 'sorry', 'ul', and 'only online'.  It really winds people up.

Although the biggest wind up is the 'ty' before anyone has said 'nh' or 'wp' or anything.  That really does get on people's nerves, used to annoy me a little.  Now it just makes me laugh.

ah!  This misunderstanding might explain a comment I got the other day.  I get AK in the BB and shorty moves all in UTG with A5 and doesn't hit.  I usually wouldn't say anything at this point, but he commented 'nice hand to have in the bb' so I politely replied 'ty ul'.   He then said - 'i know i lost, but thanks for the update' which had me a bit befuddled (what a nice word).  I think in future I'll type unlucky in full.

Instead of that next time, for the ultiamte rubdown, give him an anagram with too many letters.  thumbs up
