Nitpicking on whether HSBC is a British Bank? -  again, what definition of a Bank's nationality are you using?

Ohh nothing, Just the name gives the origins of the bank away I think, I could be wrong but Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation    does not sound like a british Isles based bank.

But it was set up by a Scot, in a British Colony, and moved it's international headquarters to London before Hong Kong stopped being British. The most accurate description of any company that large would be International. But if you had to assign a company a single nationality it's usually where there international heaquarters are.
