Has anyone seen the news?   The ship that has been damaged is now having its goods that have washed up on the beach taken.  As shown in the report link below, 50 BMW motorbikes have been taken Cheesy. 

Is this morally correct to take things that don't belong to us or is this helping out the environment by removing the cargo before it causes further impact on the environment?

Part of me feels this is wrong to take the cargo, however I feel more distress about the harm floating cargo will have on nature if it isn't removed in this way. However it is being removed, either by stealing or by properly enforced environmental clean-up teams, the positive thing here is that the problem is being dealt with.

That's why they have to report what they take.

Not illegal for them to take it though, calling it stealing is incorrect.

You are correct.  I think it is a good thing anyway, it prevents it causing harm to animals and marine life  Smiley

i thought the cargo was waste stuff, not decent kit like motorbikes......... part of the fun of beachcombing is knowing that when you find that pot of treasure, its yours to keep. wheres the beach the cargo is coming adrift?  lol

You get salvaging rights. You report it, the owner of the goods can then pay a reward for it or just say keep it.
