I should get promoted this season although with it being my first im not sure if thats the best way to go. Grumpmanton are by far the best side in the league having been relegated last season, Langs smashers were going well untill a change of manager decimated their squad and then got hammered by Grumpmanton and BVCC , the latter today by 10 wkts in 17 overs. The rest of the sides are pretty poor ,with busbys babes having an outside chance if i dont concentrate .anyway come on the vale....

League: VI.59

1.    Twickenham    7    7    0    0    28    12.78
2.    Stans Park    7    6    0    1    24    3.95

8.    CC Dampyros    7    1    0    6    4    -2.18

I took over after 2 games of the season gone, with 1 decent player and a team of morons

Have dibbled and dabbled in the transfer market, I have spent approx 90k and made 500k from just 2 players. I have 2 very decent young allrounders, , hopefully with the nets they are receiving and the form they are in, I'll either get 2 very good players to keep or I'll make a fortune on them!

Twickenham is by far the best team, Stans Park only beat me by 18 runs last time, and my next 2 games being against Toms Tigers and The Damned United, it'll be very interesting to see what happens if I win both of those

After promotion last year through the playoffs, i thought i was a certaintly for relegation this seaon. However, things aren't going too bad thanks to a couple of good players coming through from the academy.  If i can stay up this year, i will be happy.    Lancaster Bombers won this league last year, but for some reason did not get promoted (anyone any idea why this could be??).  They have a 64K BTR rated bowler and a 48K BTR batsman (average 383) who are smashing up the league.  Doosra XI are also a very good team, and a certainties for at least 2nd place here.  Boyle's Goats have a couple of very good players, but have no strength in depth to make a challenge at the title.  I'm currently 4th thanks to a good win over Boyle's Goats and a very close win over The Manor Kings.  The Manor Kings have a better squad than me on paper, and should end up above me at the end of the season.  The Romans are the only team, apart from the top 2, to beat me this season, in a very close first game of the season.  Their team looks weak though, and i think they will struggle to climb the table.  LFC4ever have a new manager, and are guaranteed relegation unless their manager can bring in some quality players quickly.
If i can stay 4th this season, i'll be very happy, and then try and improve my squad/stadium for next season.

Well, I'm having a really tough season... I was pushing for pomotion last season and ended up in 3rd, but the quality of the league this season has hugely changed. I've been unfortunate to lose 3 of the matches that I thought were comfortable winners, but at least I've still got time to pull something out of the bag to stay up. I just TIE against Pork Piers and lost to his 'Wonderful' Top Order batsmen - most of the Top Orders in the league are very high for Div IV, so I'm planning on using my remaining £5m to save myself from relegation. This season's been very much about creating a trainee scheme, with a view to sitting tight and building up a strong team. I think Pork Piers will end up winning the league - but I can't work out how Harlem are in 3rd - they have probably the weakest ratings in the division, use a Green pitch, and still beat most oppositions.. just goes to show how reliable the match ratings are!

Lancaster Bombers won this league last year, but for some reason did not get promoted (anyone any idea why this could be??).

Half of the teams that win their leagues go up automatically, the other half have to play a play off match.  You can see this from the 'promotion info' tab.

This is how they deal with there being fewer divisions in the higher levels (i.e. its a pyramidal type structure).

I've just checked the league averages and I'm quite happy with my batsmen - 2nd and 7th in averages, also 3rd and 5th on runs scored too, they're getting better too.

Bowling is a different story, with my £1k purchase from last season still being my best bowler (despite the rest of my bowling attack costing significantly more).

3. Gilo Is Our King          7     5     0    2      20      7.11
4. GBLC Sloggers           7     4     0    3      16     -5.43

8. Taunton Raiders        7     0     0    7        0   -16.25

Top 3 sides as you can see are head and shoulders above the rest.  GBLC Sloggers are a bot with a very strong batting line-up and hopeless bowling lineup I ran them close on a TIE in first match so hope to reverse that when I play them again.  My next two matches are against Teeside tigers and Taunton raiders so I will have a very good idea of where I stand after those two matches.  Teeside beat me convincingly in the first match of the season however I suspect they were on a GFI whilst I wasn't.  My side has also improved since then so I'm hopeful of a win.  Taunton are another bot so I should take care of them.  If I win both matches I think I'll be pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot.  Glamorgan Reserves on paper look a decent side but have a weak bowling attack and I was able to contain them to under 300 today which made for a satisfying win.  After todays win I'm hopeful of managing 5th place which should give me an easier playoff match.  If I was to win all 4 winnable matches and other results went my way I guess I could get 4th but I'll be more than content with 5th lol.

Both bot sides in my league (GBLC & Taunton) have been taken over and both look pretty weak on paper.  4th place is now a distinct possibility so long as I can get a win next week.

Well, I've done much better than expected - mainly because two of top seeds went bot at the start of the season and I managed to defeat both of them, which only Team Lightning (Div IV in season 6) also managed.

The bullys have now replaced one of the bots, Lancarshire and Tomb raiders have also just started after being a tough bot and an easy bot in the first half of the season.

Albion CC's manager threw his toys out of the pram after I beat him and spent several million in the transfer market but I still think I have his number and so I'm confident of third place minimum.

I play Worcestershire Royals in round eight. They beat me by 13 runs in week one and also managed a narrow wwin over team lightning, who destroyed me.

But I have noticed WR use the same five bowlers (albeit good ones) and have only one spinner who seems to perform well on cracked pitches but didn't do so well the only game they played on a dusty pitch. I have 3 comp/comp spinners or better, so I'll try my luck on a dusty pitch, bat first, hopefully set 280 and make him chase it down. Depends whether he's been TIEing or plans to against me to as to whether I have a genuine chance of beating him.

The minimum I expect is to finish 9-5 and I secretly hope I can finish 11-3 Smiley

Made a couple of decent  purchases in the last couple of days

Edward Downes - 17 yo, BT Rating=6,007
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A defensive player with mediocre leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina:    mediocre    Wicket Keeping:    mediocre
Batting:    worthless    Concentration:    worthless
Bowling:    competent    Consistency:    competent
Fielding:    worthless

Brian Barlow - 20 yo, BT Rating=5,905
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, feeble batting form, abysmal bowling form, sublime
A defensive player with feeble leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina:    worthless    Wicket Keeping:    competent
Batting:    respectable    Concentration:    respectable
Bowling:    worthless    Consistency:    worthless
Fielding:    abysmal

Got them both for fairly decent amounts, using profits from selling a couple of originals ( sold a player with a 4k battrick rating for 250k!!) with money to spare. Picked up what I needed, a decent medium bowler and a decent batter, both with good secondary stats

Happy days

first player would be good if it was med fielding rather than WK as a bowler you will be paying wages towards his WK which will effect his sell on price a little

you need to get barlow on 2 stamina nets for about 12-16 weels and you will have a nice player

2 stamina nets and he will pop every 4 weeeks or so

Med WK will only add £32-£135 a week, not too bad.

I agree that it would be nicer on fielding but I don't think fielding is too important at the minute, especially on a player who isn't going to be a long term member of your squad.

With the 2nd player I agree that he needs more stamina but think 2 nets would be a waste.

If you were going ot use 2 nets on him I'd prefer the 2nd to be a WK net. Aside from the obvious gain in WK, it would boost his secondaries which would boost both his batting and his WK. You would have to be careful about batting him too high up the order in OD games then though, with high conc and low stamina he could easily run out of steam and stop scoring but not get out.
