Further to Tanks' "Burning DVDs" thread, I have a question, almost the reverse of what Tank is up to: Cheesy

Anyone know how to create the Xvid compressed .avi type of files that you get off 'tubes'?

Every guide to Xvid I've read seems hideously complicated, and I have some DVDs wot I bought that I want to back up and store together (so I can watch em on the PC screen and don't have to keep switching DVDs needlessly, you understand).

All responses/PMs gratefully accepted.

Cheers!

lol..the XVID DVDs I made wouldn't work coz the image moved too slowly.

Converted to AVI and now the WMV, and the image moves at the correct speed....but there's no dialogue sound Sad

I give up, might just have to buy DVDs instead

Not specifically xVID, but www.ripit4me.org

Takes your copy-protected DVDs and removes the encryption, shrinks them (you can choose the level of compression) and then either burns them to DVD or copies them to your hard drive.

Nice, straight forward 'wrapper' application that brings together a number of other apps like DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink.

what was the orginal file type you started with?  If it was poor to start with, you aren't going to be able to improve it.
