I think being allowed to film on the casino premises was limiting him to what he could show.

Reading between the lines though:

If you are rich and play roulette/craps/baccarat - casino will assign you a person who will 'look after you' - meaning- will make you feel special so you can blow xxxxx K on fruit machines and other crap games, not only that, but this guy will encourage you and stay with you for a whole night so u can lose more.  I bet that if you are winning a lot, the same guy will encourage you to stop and leave as the winner.

If you have their money, I doubt they'd want you to leave. Winning streaks are just luck.

Why would they want you to leave if you are winning?

I think there was a hint of sarcasm in Tantrum's post

I watched it last night and was rather surprised at it.

I know what the tricks of the casino's are so that doesn't surprise me but that slot lady who blew 4mill in 7 years and lives in that shitty house (filled with boxes) just goes to show how hooked some people are. I also thought her son was in a sorry state, he'd obviously completely given up any hope of ever seeing any money as it was all going to be pissed away into the slot machines. I don't think he cared about her spending all "hish" inheritance but more about the sheer waste of it.

I did like the cranky fella and his mate...His mate lost but was happy enough about it and coped with it well but he himself is the typical tilt guy we all know and love at the poker table.

Overall not a bad program and definetly not one of those "all gambling is evil" things...

Cranky fella looked like he wanted to smack Louis in the mouth a couple of times but in the circumstances I thought he showed remarkable restrant.

"How much you lost?"
"$24K"
"But did you have a wonderful time?"

I loved the bits we he would be in the lift and asking anyone who came in "are you up or down?" I think only one said he was up and even the most amateurish poker player could have sensed weakness in his answer lol! That IT consultant at the end was a proper gambler he knew what he was doing. That mattress king from canada didnt even have a system when he was betting 5000 dollars a spin on rollette and his sleazy so called "friend" leting him go down 250,000! Only the ppl over the pond would have a friend who tries to bleed you dry and still love him!!

I found it interesting that the guy who lost $250K seemed to be clued up that there was more chance of losing than winning. And not having a system for the roulette also reflected that.

And the woman who has lost $4m on the fruit machines knew there was no skill to it and even seemed open to the strong possibility that she might lose everything. I found it particularly funny when, shortly after the 'losing $4m" discussion, she got really excited and said "Look! I've won a hundred dollars"

The saddest thing was she had a memorial service for her husband at the casino....

I saw it and thought 'holy crap', how much does that cost a night, english butler, the works. Then you see how much the guy blows. At least $300K? And they were fighting over a $3-4K free shopping card?
And just how much do you make by being 'Canada's mattress king?'
As usual I found Theroux very entertaining, but the program made me almost feel ill. The casino staff were scary. Theroux's very good-natured but he smelt blood and went right in for the kill. 'I'm just a marketing guy'. 'Are you his friend?' 'Yes, I'm his friend'. 'Would you tell him to stop?'
The big loser of the young duo was hilarious: 'When you start winning you gotta bet higher and higher.' He really believed he was on a streak. Looks like he lost a life-changing sum. Strange, since "Blackjack is not weighted in the house's favour.'
I loved the lift scenes too 'You winning or losing?' 'Losing'. 'Winning or losing?' 'Winning' You winning or losing?' 'I itAllyaan!' lol

Well, they're not all that bad. Stanley Casino in Glasgow have recently upgraded their suite for 'high rollers' like us:

lol no but at least have a system or some kind of bankroll management. It just annoys me that people still belive they can go in there and come out a winner. And its even worse when you can see them trying to get it back. Its obvious that people like him dont have millions of dollars to waste, he just likes coming down and being made to feel important. He thinks its all comped but 15K rrom x 3 nights and 3k credit card have all come out of his 300k!!!!! Why cant ppl f****** realise that its far from a free holiday! Idiots
