Not only is it bad enough having to listen to two englishmen commentating and slabbering over a REASONABLE performance by wilkinson (no more than reasonable made a couple of tackles you would have thought he just sidestepped the whole of scotland) But even the video ref is overcome with joy at jonny's return and awards a try that clearly isn't However the game was never in question after about 10 minutes for me. We cannot afford to lose many players especially white who is so central to our defense. But the amount of possession England were achieving meant that even their unimaginative plodding efforts at attack would eventually wear down a mediocre scotland team. I thought Ashton would have improved that back line but still far too lateral and flat (absolute basic rugby). Thought Farrel began to show glimpses of getting into the game but has been largely anonymous so far. Will probably come more into it now as game is over effectively and England should rack up the 50 point mark. Ho hum BRING ON ITALY

Eddie Butler is welsh by the way and as a welsh man i hate england doing well. But for anybody to say Wilkinson hasnt played a WORLD CLASS GAME is an absolute lier! He has controlled the game perfectly, has put in big hits and been involved in every point scored today. An absolute rugby genius!!!!!

Bit harsh there i thought.
wilkinson has not controlled this game he has played a reasonable stand offs role behind a dominating pack. To go overboard and say it's world class is a bit much. Harry Ellis has caused far more problems than wilkinson.
And I know Eddie Butler is welsh that was sarcasm and i apologise

Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life. Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft? Of course not.

It was exceptional from wilkinson. Not really because he played an excellent game but because he played an excellent international game on the back of so little club rugby.
Harry Ellis was very nippy and accomplished too.
Best performance by england for ages.

ok ok, i admit it ... i watched it.
Bit harsh on the commentators, they did in fact slaughter the ref and the officials for awarding the wilkinson try.
Agree with JC's comment about Ellis, great performance.
But Wilkinson is a bit special isnt he.

i understand what your saying eck. You cant judge him on one performance but i appreciate just how easy he makes his role look. Good overall performance though. Brian moore has got a little bit better tho. Not as bad as he was. Stuart barnes has got better aswell and dewi (Dawy as they say it) Morris has got worse-idiot!

Commentary on BBC1 was shocking. So I swtiched to the 5 Live commentary. Far better.
An easy win, and England will have to raise their game against Ireland and France (and possibly Wales).
I think they have it in them though. And believe me, there's more from Farrell to come.

I'm not saying Wilkinson isn't special he is absolutely brilliant and I for one look forward to seeing him back to his peak. I have played Stand off for about 30 years now and he did his job today very well. He didn't put in the world class perfomance that he has in the past and I am sure he will in the future if he can stay injury free. Sorry it's a tired joke in our Rugby Club about Eddie Butler being "English" same as Ian Robertson and Bob Wilson ( in football) kind of thing. I agree Kin thought Farrel was finding his feet but you could see the thought in his game that is lacking in quite a few of the backs England have used in the past. Also don't understand why England picked the Guy from McFly at full back though. Defnately have to raise their game against wales kin ur right. Glad you realise that! Maybe... Definately CMON THE CELTS

As an avid Rugby League fan, and a Wigan one at that, I've seen Farrell play for over a decade. The bloke is brilliant. It was once said about him that he's got the brain of a back in the body of a forward. But that's too simplistic. His reading of the game (in League) was second to none, and his mentality and leadership was incredible.
Without doubt the best rugby player I've ever seen play.
Of course, he's very new to Union. Whether or not he can 'shine' we'll have to wait and see, but one thing's for certain - he won't let anyone down.
Today he distributed the ball well, but played a steady game. His defence was good, and he didn't look like a newbie at the game (which although he might be a rookie at Union, he's been playing rugby all his life, and playing it well). I would have liked to see him run with the ball, and show what he can do there.
Seriously, any Union fans who haven't seen Farrell play before are in for a real treat. Oh, and he can place kick like a metronome as well.

I enjoyed the match immensely and thought Ellis was magnificent
Wilkinson is phenomenal, teak tough big match temperament and exudes class.
Will be interesting to see how England go against a serious team like Ireland, Wales and France because Scotland couldn't match them up front
I thought I saw England's weakness as a lack of pace which might be exposed when the oppostion is getting equal amounts of ball.
I detest Eddie Butler's commentary. To provide balance, Jonathan Davies is an exceptional pundit.
