APAT Tournament Director Leaves

London, February 4, 2007 – The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (“APAT”) today announced that Tournament Direct Mel Lofthouse is to leave the organisation.

Lofthouse, one of the UK’s foremost female tournament directors, has decided to make a return to her career in advertising, and will now focus on tournament directing on a part time basis.

APAT Chairman Tony Kendall said:  “As tournament director, Mel organised the tremendously successful English and United Kingdom Amateur Poker Championships.  We’ll be sorry to see her go and wish her well with her future plans.”

Mel Lofthouse added:  “I’ve enjoyed my time at APAT and wish the team well.  I have made many friends through the Association and plan to keep in touch with everyone by playing in future APAT events, where I don’t want to see anyone trying to steal my blinds!”

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Had the pleasure of playing in the Newcastle event, which was exceptionally well organized. All the best for the future.

Hi Mel very sad to see APAT is losing your highly skilled TD services.

Every cload has a silver lining however,And i'll be looking forward to seeing you at some future event, Game keeper turned poacher,so to speak.

At least you can again have the pleasure, of joining Dewi and me ,on the sauce, nice and early on match day. thumbs up

Welsh Amateur Championships TD in three weeks will be the Grosvenor venue TD, to APAT rules.

we hope to have someone in place for the Scottish Event thereafter.
