I would define a bad beat as when the money goes in, you are a considerable favourite and lose the hand. I think it has little to do with how the hand was played.

He lost to a two outer, course it was a bad beat, regardless of how the hand played out.

wikipedia.org....

In poker, "bad beat" is a subjective term for a hand in which a player who had what appeared to be strong cards nevertheless loses. There is no consensus among poker players as to what exactly constitutes a bad beat, and often players will disagree about whether a particular hand was a bad beat.

These "played it too slow/too fast" threads amuse me greatly.

Nobody can say, definitively, he played it too one or the other, because it depends on so many things.

But I know this, & everyone seems to forget it. Playing Aces or Kings slow, or fast, or whatever, is simply a question of increasing or decreasing the risk/reward factor.

Play them ultra-fast, get all the chips in the middle pre-flp, generally means no customers, & you win little, but are guaranted to win the hand.

Play them slow, invite action, more likely to lose, but when you win, you gat paid more. It's a very simple equation.

As to Bad-Beats, to my mind, they are entirely irrevelant. It's the nature of poker & "chance", so I do wonder why folks moan about them. But if it makes 'em feel better, it's fine by me. I'd rather they Posted them on blonde then harangued me with them at Live Venues!

Hey Tikay are you going to update your pic with the Black tie white shirt look from the open? Kara still talking to you ;-).

I would have shipped all my chips after the flop ... if he calls and the board does runner runner Q then there
is nothing you can do.
