Only three in the handicap proper for this Listed chase and LITTLE BRICK made an encouraging British debut on his first outing in this country. He had won three times in his native France and was well supported here to go in at the first time of asking in receipt of 17lb from closest rival My Will.
His backers were always on pretty good terms with themselves as he jumped with alacrity and galloped on strongly up the straight but he is not that big and those who were lucky enough to take the 100-1 for the Grand National would have been pleased as well although those fences will be tougher than these. He could well go to Cheltenham for the William Hill Chase off a higher rating and it will be interesting how he fares there in a more competitive affair.
As the above( from the racing post) says, it won well enough but it is difficult to gauge how good the horse is, it doesn't look a particularly big animal and its jumps were nothing spectacular. It was receiving a lot of weight, so all in all inconclusive. It is set to carry 10 11lb at Aintree and yesterdays distance of 3m 2f was the furthest the horse has ever ran. Nearly all the horses runs( in France) have been on soft or heavy ground. The horse has fallen in 3 of it's 30 races.
On a more positive note it was the horses first run for quite a while and may be open to improvement.It's next run should give us more of an idea of its chances at Aintree.
