i have a question and want to get people opinion on how they play a paired flop in early position when ur holding the single pair. to make this easier to understand, say u have  in the BB in a 1/2 cash game. after 4 or 5  limpers u check and flop is

how do u play it? do u bet out - if so how much, or do u check, looking for a check raise, or just check call?  i sometimes find myself i a muddle in how to play these hands. is there a set way u think they should be played

i hope this isnt a dumb question

If I was up against 4/5 limper's I would be just check folding a hand like this. There isn't many times when your going to be in-front plus your playing the hand OOP so it makes it even more difficult to know where you stand. Other people might have different opinions but I wouldn't putting much money (if any) into the pot with a hand like this.

Welcome to blonde, no question too stupid, and this isn't a stupid question anyway.

Not that great a hand, the pair slows everyone down.

Nobody who holds a hand you can beat will give you much action. The small pot isn't worth actively pursuing with such a hand that may well be ahead just now, but equally likely to be drawing all but dead.

I check fold.

Check/fold unless the only action is a small bet from the last to act, in which case you may want to call.

I'd bet out only if I was up against 2 opponents tops.

I bet to charge any draws, but wont get sucked into playing a big pot. Shorthanded this hand has some value.
