Just been watching The Open on Sky Poker - LOL what a load of .......

I saw the show for the first time last night but for only about 15 minutes.
Do they only ever show suckouts?
It seemed every hand had runner runner flushes.

I have noticed this, but it must be a bit of a dillema. If you are selecting a hand to show, do you show a hand where nothing happens eg fold fold fold. Whereas PNL will show continuous play which shows interesting and uninteresting hands. Often they will end up talking about something else as nothing is happening. Not sure what the answer is. My main view for the moment is whether the show is entertaining and my answer is yes. Will it be perfect for poker "experts", probably not, but sure with practise that this will improve.

A little Update for you from the Sky Suits who, as you know, monitor these threads.

It seems they took Paul Musselle on as a Presenter, rather than an Expert, but due to rostering problems, he "stood in" as the Expert to help out. I gather that in future, they will try to keep him to his main role, which is as the Presenter - at which he has great experience, & is much respected.

The guy got a bit of stick on Monday, fair enough, but it seems like it was not actually his fault.

Just so's you know.

i tell you what,, all this site ever does is critisise.,.,.,for 1 ive been wanting a poker show on tv since 425 has gone,as im sure a lot of you did.,.,they been going 5 minutes and its getting slagged,
guys this show is live,they are allowed to make mistakes,teething problems,ive seen tk make a few but i havent come on to slag him,give them a break i say,the show is fast moving and im sure there are all nervous with it being live tv,these problems will sort themselves out in due course,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,
 myself to be honest find it funny when they miss things out,that jhonny gould guy is funny as fook,i wouldnt mind playing him h/u for £1,000,000 lol

  with everything apart from the slagging tk off. There should always be allocated thread space for some tk slagging. He deserves it! He's english!

Got in late last night from work, said to the missus ''there is a cool new poker show on sky, do you mind if we watch it for a bit as I plan to start playing it, 2 of the lads from the forum are on, 1 is playing, and the other is presenting.

She turned it over at the exact point Tikay was talking about Mussels and Slugs.

She called it tripe and turned it straight back over again lololol

I bumped into Tikay as a presenter when he was on PNL last year.  Now , personally, I like the 'old farty git' style of presenting that he does so perfectly ( I'm sure it's just an act in front of the cameras - isn't it ? )

I've been keeping an eye on sky poker, during the breaks in PNL.  I saw a show a few nights ago with Casper Berry ( a PNL bod & bloody good at it , for those of you that don't bother with pnl ) with some really, REALLY enthusiastic presenter, who really REALLY annoyed me.  I don't know his name, but that show just didn't work. 

Last night's, however, was different.  That beautiful young blond  ( and Helen )  worked great together.  The show was funny, lively, informative ( I mean where else can we hear about the trams & trains in old Mill Hill town, sod the poker , we all know about hand values ).  I especially liked the way that Tikay was claiming to have picked both guys in the HU as his choice of winner.  I'm sure Helen liked that.


Two other small points.

Are Dan Hipgrave & Lynsey Horn a couple ?  If so he is one lucky man.

More importantly.  I hear that Sky have poached several of the pnl team.  Good.  But I have heard that The GREAT Nick Wealthall isn't one of them.  Now Tikay, I don't know what influence you have with the powers at the top,  but I'm sure you've worked with Nick several times, & if he's not better than a few of the dweebs I've seen these last few days, then I don't know what to say.  Admittedly he hasn't got the greatest face for TV, but with all due respect, you ain't no male model either ( well not for the last couple of years at least, I'm sure you were in the past    )

Up until last night I watched pnl, then switched to sky poker during the news breaks.  Last night I watched Sky poker , & flicked over to PNL during the adverts.  Good show, WP.

It was barnacles & slugs actually. And buses & trolleybuses. Mussels are boring. These are serious issues.

I'm sure people posting comments aren't doing it with the sole intention to criticise: we have been asked to give feedback (which will inevitably include some constructive criticism) and told that the sky suits will be taking note.  Hopefully if we all work together on this with open dialogue the show will get bigger and better and be a roaring success. 

I also think you'll find that the majority of people on here making points are the ones who are regularly supporting the show by watching, emailing in and playing in the games.
