Arsenal were awesome for the first 20 minutes, but Chelsea came back well without looking good and apart from 2 goals they hit the post twice. Really a Chelsea first team should have beaten Arsenal youth easily, but looks good for Arsenal's future. Don't think the ref affected the result, but an interesting end.

They obviously all look the same to Howard Webb, who I thought had a poor game from when he booked Denilson for an ordinary foul with no malice and then minutes later did not book Diarra for a cynical body check.
The standard of referees in this league is the worst that I have ever known it, I can only think of one or two who seem to know what they are doing.
I thought our kids were fantastic and if Diaby had not picked up a knock we might well have won.
What is really going to hurt are the suspensions.

Adebayor was just the wrong guy, wrong place, wrong time. Looked like he was trying to break it up to me.
What Mikel was sent off for I dont know. Yes he held his shirt, but he did nothing after that in the face of blatant retaliation from Toure. I thought he was unlucky to go. Maybe he said something?
If anything it was Lampard and Fabregas who deserved to go more so.
Apart from that I thought the ref had an ok game.
Arsenal's kids looked miles better than Chelsea and were unlucky to lose. They have a great future.
John Terry is nails. Anyone else think Diaby's foot was actually injured from the kick to Terry's face?

Just seen the reply and Adebayor made at least three punches. At the time I thought the ref had blown it, but now I can't understand why he was arguing his sending off.

I was surprised to see Toure get so mad at Mikel, it must have been more than just a simple shirt-pull.
There may be some previous history from African cups or summat.

That's what I just thought. Very odd.
I reckon the ref may well have caught on to it as well as Mikel didn't seem to actually do much.

1-0 for the Arsenal youngsters in my book. They played supberb. Gutted to lose obviously but they did well. Fair enough for the sendings off, can't really complain and it was a shame to see it in the game.
Hats off to our young guys though
if that's all Chelsea have got, we'll be ok
How much for Shevchencho/Drogba alone

I think you will discover that he was just rehearsing his new dance routine....
He actually looked like he was trying to break things up to me.

i too thought the ref was poor - it really was handbags and considering it was the 90th minute of a Cup Final i think it could have been yellow cards all round. I dont think Adebayor did much more the Carvalho and plenty others got involved.
Problem is that they have never played the game and dont understand the emotions etc and how charged up these players are.
The Denilson booking set the tone. You will see a previous thread where i have said that there are literally only 1-2 decent refs in the Premiership and the rest are way off the pace. Webb is one of them.
Bit surprised by Toure's over-reaction to a shirt pull!! For a deeply religious dedicated player it was out of charachter so not sure what brought it on.
Overall - the result was probably fair. Yes Arsenal looked the better team and passed the ball well but football is about scoring goals and they never really threatened Cech that much. Chelsea hit the bar twice as well.
However - the main fact is that Arsenal with only 2 regular first teamers and an outfield avg age of just over 20 years took the might of Chelsea's strongest team all the way to the end. Impressive stuff
And anyway - its still a Mickey Mouse Cup!!!
