Nah jock i didnt win it!! Never really got into the groove, went up to 17,000 max and just yo-yo'd really. Went short stacked twice. Mark was on my left on day 1 and we both went short stacked at around the same time, he got some cards just in time but what a player, great result for you and see you up in scotland hopefully mate.
I have to say Cardiff was definately best one yet and really good atmosphere. Nice to meet new faces, old faces and ugly faces (you know who you are). And also nices to meet some of the blonde regulars, even though they seemed more interested in my gf! GFY's lol.

Just got back and my official report will be up on
www.apat.com
and across the media within a day or two.
as tikay says the winner was Lee Mulligan. He is on blonde as "jjandellis"
Quite a nice story this. A while back Lee posted on blonde along the lines of "I am really struggling poker wise, getting stuffed in rebuy comps..help" and indeed he received help both on the thread and via PMs.
Since then his live form has turned round culminating in his victory yesterday. An interivew with him will appear on blonde when he returns back to earth!
Mark Donnelly is now I beleive 5 points clear in the Player of the Year Rankings after his second runner up spot in three comps.
Third was Graham Cox from Bristol.
It was an excellent weekend enlivened by Sofa King, Colchester Kev, ericstoner walking and already my thoughts are turning to Scotland in April

A young Lady called Linda Uliwiauk (spelling...) who won the British Ladies Open (or some such) at Star City last year was 5th, I think.
Glad to read that Linda did well. She was sat on my immedinate right during 1000/2000 blinds. A very talented and difficult person to play against. I was happy to have her on my right hand side during the game. Well done Linda.

She sure was tough to play aganst! She got unlucky a few times, & that done her. She stole for England.....

She was also lucky with a ruling as well....otherwise she could easily have been out in around 30th.

Yeah was on the table and still in the hand myself as was BB, Mark was SB It was a genuine mistake and common sense prevailed.
Mark announced raise not realising utg was all in without moving his chips. As soon as he realised he apologised and mucked.
Had he been forced to loose all his chips (as he had mucked) (think he was the short stack against the all in) it would have forced me to call the orignal bet with my rags cos of the odds putting me all in..
It would have been a horrible way for Mark to go out, admittedly the letter of the law says what it says but I think in the atmosphere and corinthian ethos of the tournament the right decision was made.
That's about right. Technically, a bad decision by me, but in the spirit of the occasion, & every single player at the table agreed it was the correct decision in the circumstances. Mark will never wear an i-Pod at the table again! And top marks to the original Raiser for suggesting leniancy.

That was much more complicated, & less clear-cut, & it was a close call, but there were no complaints in the end. Common sense prevailed. I expected to get some grief on that, but hey, such is life.

I think the ruling on that one was in the spirit of the APAT and I didn't hear any of the players complain. A different competition and a less friendly ethos, she'd have been going out. I think the right decision was made, was just saying she was lucky in that regard.

The problem with this one is that the evidence was less clear-cut, & there were several differing opinions as to exactly what happened, as to whether the Dealer took her hand, or whether she pushed her hand to the Dealer, thinking she'd won. In the circumstances, as we could not be 100% sure of the chain of events, we ruled in her favour. The way it played out, in fact, it would only have cost her 1 Big Blind, so it was no big deal really.

Congrats to the blondes that made the money, especially those I shared table time with.
Just wanted to add my congratulations to the Cardiff Grosvenor team who did a brilliant job over the weekend. Its a great place to play poker and I hope to return there at some point.
Well done guys.

Pretty sure my
would have stood up against that controversial decision when i announced raise with the already all in. Hands up, was a genuine arse of an error. I was mightly grateful with the decision that was decided. Had it of gone the other way i wouldn't of been happy, but i would have had to accept it. Apologies to all involved.......will only wear one hearphone from now on!.....Cheers Roberto.

lmost certainly have panned oot differently as to the Ruling.
As luck would have it, he did not, so that made the decision easier! If he had moved in, it would have almost certainly have panned out differently as to the Ruling. I saw no no need to go looking for trouble!

From me, a big thank you to Tikay, Tighty, Des et al for another gret event. The concept of APAT is great as it gives playes like myself a chance to develop their deep stack game in a great environment. After finishing ahead of a grand total of 4 people at APAT Birmingham, I beat over 120 this time so with the same improvement it looks like I'm winning the next one! I blame my mediocre performance on arriving at the casino on the Friday night and staggering out at about 4.30 in the morning after too many Magners to count! Still, I expect my preparation in Scotland to be pretty similar lol..
Great to meet old and make new friends - a great advantage of continually busting out early is you get to talk to so many more people. I know these things take a lot of organising and the poker community that attend these events are all genuine poker enthusiasts with varying levels of experience. I know I still have much to learn in the game but I honestly feel I am learning and developing as a result in playing the APAT events. I know the hands I played badly and I feel that these mistakes are a result of most of my play being in shorter turbo type events where you have to make moves much earlier. It's great fun when they work, but quite dangerous when reraising with
against an opponent holding
lol! I reckon that come Scotland I will be a disciplined rock so remember to respect my raises
It was great to see Brendan do so well although quite honestly I always expect that - he is a real grinder who knows how to play these events. A special weekend for him in many ways. Also I feel JonMW deserves a pat on the back for making it into day two - his game has really come on in recent months which is great to see.
Look forward to seeing you all in Scotland or at BB4 if sooner. Thanks again APAT peeps... you're the nuts!
