Hi

I'd keep the cards to the flush as your bottom two pair looks buggered here and keeping Aces might have you drawing too thin.

Did I say I hate "Irish"  Shocked....Can we have a Kings wild Padooki quiz next time? Grin

I have a question for you Tony:

Had you already decided what you were going to discard when you RR'd the 'lairy maniac' ?
As by definition he wasn't going to pass.

 Huh?

P.S.

I keep the flush draw FWIW.

To be truthful Karabiner, no, I had not made up my mind, but I was quite sure, as you correctly deduced from my descriprion of him as a lairy maniac, that he would NOT pass.

I was SURE I had the best hand on the flop, absolutely the best hand at that time, & the best draw. I was struggling to put him on a hand though. Given he was maniac, he could have had anything, but a more controlled player, I would have assumed top set, or top 2 pair.

So deciding what to discard was somethiong of a problem, at least to my mind, especially with such a wedge of money now in the middle. In Irish, to a degree, and especially H-U, what you discard/keep can be dependent upon what you think your oppo may hold. And I did not have a CLUE what he held.

What would YOU put him on? Because that is key to deciding what is best to keep in my hand, surely.....

And to Redsimon, I HATE padooki, kings wild or not. Loathe the damn game! My Padooki quiz would be "why do folks wanna play such a stupid game, & what on earth has it got to do with poker? And yes, that's because I am awful at it.......

I keep the two small pairs, as I think it is probably in front. One pair aces is no good and if you keep the flush draw and dont hit you will almost definitely lose.

If you are "sure" you have the best hand you should keep the small two pair of course.

But the question which really puzzles me is how tikay is deemed a "jr member" of this forum.

My guess is that its been a very long time since he's been a juniior at anything....

I perhaps should have chosen my words more carefully Keith - I WAS sure I had the best hand, but I was not sure which of the three (overpair, two pair, nut flush draw) it was....!

As to tikay, "Jr member"......how the hell did you spot that? No wonder your e-address is "the hawk".....And no, I dont know what "Jr" means in this case. But I am obliged to agree, "Junior" is pushing "artistic licence" to it's liimits.....

I personally think the best thing to do here mate is to go for the flush, It the only way to maximize your outs if he should be holding top set. If you keep bottom 2 pair you are drawing dead if he hold any kind of set. By now he must have assumed by the way you bet freflop you are holding Aces or kings at least, and he isn't scared of them, muppet or otherwise. It is also safe to say that if you kept aces and needed to hit another to win your outs are poor but maybe even none existant, as people were in the hand before the flop I would suggest 1 or 2 may have been holding suited aces. Not sure if you have posted what happened or what he had (still gettin used to this forum) but please let us know what it is.

OK. Given the nature of the maniac to my right it really was not possible to assess what he was holding, or even the range of holdings he may have. But I felt cofident that, amongst my 3 options, I had a favourites chance, if only I chose the correct option.

So after a monster dwell, I finally decided to keep the diamond nut flush draw - or, if I missed, A high.....! So we all waited to see what maniac to my right was gonna reveal. And I must confess to being mildly shocked, but delighted, to see - K-3 of diamonds! So, he's got second nut flush draw, & nothing else. So I can win without hitting my flush, lovely.

And the whole table said to me, "what were you waiting for, it was obvious what you had to keep".......

Well, it may have been obvious to them, but.......
