Decided to throw a sickie from work today, these 24 hour flu bugs can come on so suddenly.
So i had a chance to make the most of it i played a little poker, then done the weekly shop, then i mowed mine and my 80+ year old neighbours front and back lawn (first cut of year), always a job i hate the thought of doing but once started can be a real pleasure, i mean your out in the sun (sure the fresh air will help me heal) spring is in the air and the visible results are there to see straight away.
All of that done and it's only 2 pm now plenty of time for poker, beer and horses not necessarily in that order.

Got a nice wee home game organised for tonight.

Says to boss on tuesday "Friday i've booked in some meetings in the afternoon but was hoping to take the time off to help organise some stuff for the wee ones birthday on saturday (it is but missus has that in hand). So i'll come in about back of lunchtime if that is okay? you do owe me some time don't you?"

No problem at all he says - and to think I moan about him at times!! good lad you know it makes sense!!

so we have 6 playing tonight i think and the only 2 that will be up for work on the friday morning are self employed what time will we finish i wonder and will i make these afternoon meetings..........mmmmmmm.....

Certainly a benefit to being self employed.  I trek up to London Town on Thursdays and it's a late one for me if I do anything decent and only get a few hours kip in but I know I can just pretty much fall asleep at work if need be Cheesy

I'd rather do this work on a paid sick day as opposed to an unpaid weekend   thumbs up
