Played last night at the £100 double chance at the Broadway Birmingham. £2500 prize pool top 3 played. 3.30am 4 left a deal was struck. Over to the cashiers office to collect the cash.
THEY HAVE NO CASH. You can take a cheque or a deposit slip.
The poker prize pool had been used in the Casino and not enough cash was available to payout the poker prizes.

Yes, once or twice. It's annoying, but these thinghs happen now & then, & The Broadway are good for the money, you can be sure of that.
Gotta say, you are in good form young Lady, keep it up!

would be intresting though if they did not support deals like some casinos and paid out only the advertised prize by cheque

True!
I find (& always have) The Broadway to be pro-active & Customer friendlly, so I'm sure they'd take on board customer feedback on matters such as deals.

That is surprising, although I don't suppose the poker cash would be ring-fenced: I guess their float took a big hit on the tables.
Broadway relate very well to their customers, I hope this caused no problems to those concerned.
Glad to see 25 runners, though.

I thought this too. Obviously Ocean's 11 says it. But I thought Rob Yong said in the DTD thread ages ago something about his electronic transfers using DTD online poker accounts within the live club wasn't allowed because they had to have the cash to cover the chips. Anyone else remember that?

I guess it is down to security and if someone has a big win at the tables they might have to "borrow" from the poker pot. Personally I would prefer to walk out with a cheque than a wad of notes in my pocket, sure it will happen one day.

I totally agree with this bit... We have all been to dodgy casino's, and knocked a shady looking geezer (who looks use to knocking people out) out of the comp, and you then have to check over your shoulder as you are walking out. then you get in your car, lock the doors, and drive like billyio...

The amount of cash held by casinos is limited. It is much less than people realise because of security and insurance issues.
They don't have to cover every chip in the casino, it would be totally impractical to do so.

Winning comps and having your wallet close to bursting and having to walk briskly to your car at 3am isnt the most fun experience in the world!

They dont have to cover every chip in the casino. All they have to do is offer you
some
form of payment. Wether it be a cheque or a deposit slip.
To not have £2500 left is pretty dire! It sounds to me like they didn't want to pay you out in cash for some other reason. It might have been that they wanted to keep some for the dayshift the next day because they didn't have a Securicor collection or something like that. Cashiers can be a snidey bunch. Mind you, i've done it myself.
Big punters very rarely take cash, they almost always take a cheque. Unless they dont want their bank manager finding out where their money is coming from.
I saw a geezer win 40 grand once punting on roulette. He stood in line with everyone else at the end of the night, asked for a big brown envelope, stuffed 40 sealed packets of £50 notes in there and walked up the dodgiest road in Swansea to get a taxi.
Mind you, we found out that the same fella was a dodgy character who was using his clients mortgage deposits to fund his insatiable appetite for the wheel!

It was probably "we have cashed up already & can't be arsed"......Cashiers are, after all, in the Accountant lineage, & you know what they are like.
