Agree with you there Ironside. So many reserves are being offered a spot....goes to show that even those drawn, who put themselves in the draw aren't going. First come, first served perhaps. Sure APA will keep trying different options until one works fo the majority.

The thing with the first come, first serve thing was it gives some people NO chance of going. My first event was Cardiff, I wanted to go to Newcastle but the draw was 8pm on some evening where I was playing a live tournament, so I couldnt be sat at the computer :S

Pfft, wouldn suprise me if we're drawn on the same table again! With only 120 runners or so this apat will be a nice little one for all the top point scorers!

But as i have said before its the same if you want tickets to a gig or a festival, if you dont get in when the phone lines open or when they go on sale on the net, you miss out. If you wanna go enough you will be there fot the 8pm registartion.

It's not the fairest way though. If someone is away for the weekend the seats go on sale - they can't get in. Full stop (although with any allocation method, there's always a way to get in - see below).
With the draw, at least it's fair. With only 130 seats, and 20(?) going to satellite qualifiers, there was always going to be people disappointed. If people want to drop out, then that's what the reserve list is for.
The tickets for Cardiff sold out in 6 minutes. So there were lots of people who wanted to take up the 220 seats (or however many there were) who missed out. 15 people were still able to turn up on the day and get a seat though. If you really want to play, you can. For the Scottish event, just turn up at 9am in the morning and queue. You'll be at the front of the reserve list on the day. Can't be bothered? Well, that's fair enough. A friend of mine missed out on a seat for Cardiff (couldn't get through to buy a ticket before they were gone) - was then on a reserve list, but no luck there. Undeterred, he drove over from Essex to Cardiff, and queued. He was there early doors and made sure he got a seat.

know what your saying Rich....but seems that the draw thing, may not have worked/been the best option due to the number of reserves that are now being used. Dont get me wrong, i think the draw was a fair option, i was disapointed not being drawn, but it's a fair way of drafting everyone. After the first event in Brum there was loads of posts re everyones opinion in what they thought was the best way of drafting players. The APA is an evolving organisation, so i think trial and error will proceed until a general selection process has been tried and works....for the majority.

Maybe the best way then is even more satellite qualifiers then?! just think first come, first serve aint the best...i mean websites can struggle when demand gets high. then again if i had missed out on the satellites this time round id be bitter and not be saying 'more satellites'

I managed to bubble on one sat, and was near the bubble on another, and failed miserably in the other. Still think they are a very valid way of providing some of the seats (and some travel expenses for the winners too).
Not everyone plays online though, and these are live events - so a combination of some live and some online sats like there were for this one (so I guess there were 30 seats via sats?) is probably fair.

Exactly, if you want it enough you will find a way around it. I dont see how its fair for the draw myself. No other poker tournament in the world is done like this. Im not bitter bout missing the scottish one because in truth i wouldnt have been able to sign up for it at the time anyway so i dont belive a clickfest is the best way for me to get in, just the fairest! Today, just about everyone is using broadband and everybody has the same amount of numbers and information on your bank card to enter so there is no unfairness. Im not a fast typer and got in to the welsh one so thats not an excuse either!

Thst's about the sum of it.
Of course, the root of the problem is two-fold.
1) The added value & player-friendly atmo, comined with an affordable entry fee & a deep stack, makes it a huge attraction to many. That ain't gonna change!
2) Venue Capacity - well, Season Two gives us far greater scope, not just by bigger Venues coming on stream (I can think of 2 @ 400+, & 1 at 300+), but combined with other inititives such as Live Regional Qualifiers.
As you say, we are evolving, so Season Two will address these problems, & we are working hard right now to improve the capacity situation for Season Two.
For those that were unlucky in the draw &/or clickfests, we are sorry, but we did our best to be fair to all.

How's it the fairest? If your connection goes down, you are ill (or a family member is) that evening, then you're buggered.
The draw allows everyone who's interested to enter the draw over a period of time.
KP, even if it doesn't get as far down as you on the reserve list (which it might well do), if you travelled up and made sure you were the first one there on Saturday morning you'd get a seat. Hell of a long way to go, but it's perfectly feasible.
Other poker tournaments aren't done like this - quite true. There were plently of people who wanted to play in the EPT in Copenhagen who couldn't buy their way in as the seats had all been allocated so quickly (those Scandies again!). So people missed out - that's how it goes.
It might not be the best for those really keen to play in every APAT event, but the draw is the FAIREST. All who want to play have an equal chance.

Tikay - more people can play these cheap buy-in, deep-stack events this season than they could last season.

Because i dont honestly believe that the people who are dying to go are these people in the draw. I mean seriously how many people dropped out after signing up through the clickfest. 5/6 maybe? already over 24 (i think) people have dropped out after being drawn.
Fair enough some maybe be down to health reasons or the likes but its mainly due to the fact they cant be arsed too and that annoys me.
Thats why i like clickfests, you pay your money there and then and are committed, if i miss out i miss out but at least the people who have signed up to actually want to play.
Edit- to avoid any confusion i dont mean the people on the list now!!! I mean the general majority of people who decided to email in and say they wanted their name in the draw!
