nobody is saying things dont crop up

but as far as i am aware newcastle and cardiff had a much lower % of people not able to make it

mainly due IMHO with the fact they pay to get on the list

then they get refund if they cant make it

wheras with a draw people enter then

when they are asked for money decide its not for them

which is alot more work for the APAT staff and

means that members on the reserve list are in limbo

they have no idea how many might dropp out

they cant book travel as there is a chance they wont be on list

and they wont make alternate plans for that weekend while tehre is a chance of the apat game

Right last time im gonna go off on one,

The draw is a ridiculous way of allocating seats, im dont play poker to care about other people, if im that keen to play live then i can play in a casino tourney which i do, and just because APAT has amateur in it it doenst mean it shouldnt follow the pro toruney entry guidelines. As i have said on here before i wouldnt turn up to a casino and demand we do a draw for the seats just because other people had got there first and filled up the spaces.
Why cant we just do it like every casino, ticket sales operator and poker tournament organiser does and stick to a first come first served basis!?!
The mind boggles!

If I do as well as I did in Cardiff, I'll be playing the online one as well...

I 'm just happy it's in Edinburgh so you can destroy my house!...I'll see if I can pop over that weekend. I am assuming players not eligible to play can still come around and make fun of Kinboshi?

No that event will be postponed until the following weekend as we will not run parallel ranking events.

By the way - some people weren't listening to what I was saying.

The draw for seats is the FAIREST way to allocate seats to everyone on an equal chance basis.

I'm not saying it's the BEST way to decide who takes part though.  Fairest isn't always the best.

Micky - what you are saying about people only playing their local APAT event - I think that's natural.  As Sharkey mentioned, we are all amateurs.  It's a bit of fun, a chance to win a fair amount of cash and a seat in a major event that otherwise we'd never play (other than through online qualifiers of course).  But there are more important things in life, and it's bound to be more attractive to people who can pop over to a local casino - play a two-day tourney for £75 (unless you donk out early like me), and not have to worry about travel, hotels, etc.

Jimmy - don't suppose you've got any spare tickets for the PSV match?  Funnily enough, I can get one for the first leg but not for the second.  I'll just have to make sure I can go to the semi-final...Grin

I'm there to be an object of ridicule for all.  I'll even let you buy me a drink or two - I'm good like that.

Looks like I'll be leaving the JCB at home then.  Maybe next time...

APAT does care about its members and reserves the right to trial various entry methods until we find a formula that works.

Personally, I dislike the member draw, but it was almost certainly a better alternative than selling out Gala Maybury in under 60 seconds - which was a real possibility.

So in three events APAT has trialled direct buy in, member draw, live sats, online sats and combinations of each.   If you've had fun with those combinations, just wait until you see what APAT has planned for one of our later events this season!
