Guys at APA, is the online event on the 14th going to remain even though there's an live event the same weekend??

No that event will be postponed until the following weekend as we will not run parallel ranking events.

Des, I have to say I think this is unfair. I always thought it would be fairer if the weekend of the Live Events, an Online event should take place. This would allow people who never got seats in the Live tourney a chance to gain some points.

It has been said on many occasions that the people who get a seat in the live events have the chance to gain more points than those who don't, and this would be a good way to redress the balance. Every member would have acces to thereabouts the same number of points per buy in..

Obviously £75 entry fee should have more points, but this is an excellent of balancing the accessibilty to points.. What do points make.... Prizes,.....

Fairer for all...

I ask you to re-consider this decision for all future occasion, including this one.....

Look forward to your reply Des.

Hi Jimmy,

From a pure practical point of view alone, a live event takes all of our available resources and it is simply not possible to run two events at the one time.

There are numerous reasons why we allocate 18 points in live events and 9 points in online events.  For example, there are many more online tournaments, for online specialists to score points in, and winning a live event over two days demands over twenty hours of face to face play, in comparison with a five hour online event played from the comfort of your home.

To my knowledge, this will be the only example of a schedule clash during season one and it was unavoidable due to casino availability in April.

Regards,

Des.

Des,

I undestand the amount of hard work you guys put into the Live events and I know that you have no spare capacity on them weekends, but the online events run themselves. Pokerstars will do the rest for you... Cannot understand that one...I know that you rail the events, but the event could still run...

It is still showing as scheduled on the website, and it is something that yoursleves have known about for a while. I took comfort in this fact, when I knew I could not play in the live tourney, and I am sure it was for many other members. It would make those who never got a seat, a less bitter feeling, and a fair chance to win an unbelievable prize..... Come on Des, you know it makes sense....

It would be fairer to members who never got a seat, a chance to win some points that they never got a chance to win by failing to get a seat.

Do you not think that is fair.

The prize at the end of the schedule is a huge prize, and if say a member has tried for all 3 live events so far, and been unsuccesful, they have lost out on the chance of winning a massive 54 points (unfair in the big picture). This way would allow them the chance to win some points, that the people who are playing live cannot play in....

Always one to put there 10p in......Jim.....as points leader....gotta disagree with you....See your point...and from a pratical point i would agree with it, but all those people that attend the live event will miss out on playing online and a possible 9 points. Understand what your saying about the 3 x live events and total points....but i would say that the majority who take part try to play all if not most of the online events and try to make all the live events. It would be unfair to those attending the live event to play the online event and they in turn then miss out on this opportunity.

Obviously everone will have there view...but say for instance the online event went ahead and i missed the chance to play for a possible 1-9 points, then missed out on the prize at the end by one point i would have a pretty god arguement....or moan!!

Just think it's easier to only run one event at a time... i mean $20 for a few hours work a decent return and 9 points is a far better return than £75 and 2 days work!

On the contrary Jimmy, I think it could be unfair.

Every event - live or online - starts with each member having the same chance to participate, within APAT's ability.  It's true, some gain entry and some do not, but they each start with the same chance via direct buy in, member draw or satellite.

In this scenario 130 APAT members would not be able to enter that specific round of the online series as a result of APAT scheduling.

While I think it is far from ideal, I can accept that luck can impact the rankings.

However, I do not think APAT should knowingly impact our members ability to take part through scheduling conflict.

Regards,

Des.

Right last time im gonna go off on one,

The draw is a ridiculous way of allocating seats, im dont play poker to care about other people, if im that keen to play live then i can play in a casino tourney which i do, and just because APAT has amateur in it it doenst mean it shouldnt follow the pro toruney entry guidelines. As i have said on here before i wouldnt turn up to a casino and demand we do a draw for the seats just because other people had got there first and filled up the spaces.
Why cant we just do it like every casino, ticket sales operator and poker tournament organiser does and stick to a first come first served basis!?!
The mind boggles!

APAT does care about its members and reserves the right to trial various entry methods until we find a formula that works.

Personally, I dislike the member draw, but it was almost certainly a better alternative than selling out Gala Maybury in under 60 seconds - which was a real possibility.

So in three events APAT has trialled direct buy in, member draw, live sats, online sats and combinations of each.   If you've had fun with those combinations, just wait until you see what APAT has planned for one of our later events this season!

scared

I nearly took that line out before posting as i thought i would sound like a right bazza! But im not being that way, its just poker is an individual, highly competetive sport and thats why i love it. Im not worried when im signing up for an event being it APAT or any other and worry about barry (Hope noone is called barry on here) from ipswich hasnt got in the last 2 tourneys he has entered. Thats not my concern as he had as much of a chance to get in as i did on the clickfest. If my computer went down during registration (which it did for a minute in the cardiff apat clickfest) and i didnt manage to get in then it wasnt meant to be and move on. I wouldnt moan, complain or blame anyone just wait for the next one.
If i wanted to go through a random draw process i would play bingo or the lottery.
I definately agree with you des on the draw being right for the gala as you mentioned it would be registration would take less than a minute but please oh please dont use it in the bigger runner tourneys next year.
