Well had a superb time and to anyone thinking about giving it a try I would say go for it.
I stayed in a Travelodge which was less than ten minutes walk and found the studio no problem. Well looked after by everyone involved in the show, a very friendly bunch and drinks & nibbles in the Green room.
I was stunned to find that comedian Andy Smart sitting next to me was on the same table in the toruney, guess it can't be avoided. I was also set to talk tactics with him when after two minutes he had pocket aces. A raise and reraise followed and he went all in and found two callers.

and

Not sure if this was a fish like move or a bounty hunting move.
Andy looked to me for reassurance and agreed that not much else he could do and was ready to celebrate a triple up, but he actually ended up with the worst hand!

I was doing ok early on and was 2nd on my table until Pinkie joined my table. Pinkie then appeared to be an all in merchant and any limp or raise by me was wiped out and i had to fold. Eventually another player tired of this and called his all in move, only to find Pinkie with pocket Kings. This made my task even harder. I had also understimated the impact of having a bounty on me.
I then had

and the flop had two clubs and I lost more chips chasing a flush, but made a fold post turn but had lost a third of my chips. I was then up and down and won some chips with a straight, but still around 100 chips when the blinds reached 150/300 and at this point I struggled. Hoping for a hand to push in with that never came and in effect I was blinded out. No dodgy hands or bad beats to speak of and out in 170th out of 400.
I then went on to play in 3 celeb sit n gos. In all three I played fairly well, but first game I had a big hit when I hit top pair only to find a player had slow played pocket kings. Second game I had pocket queens and called with K-10 and a king hit. Come midnight they said the celebs could go, I think they were both a little fed up with bad cards. But at this point I was on the final table of the sit n go (12 entrants). I ended up heads up against a player that had tripled up and had a massive lead over me. I clawed back a fair amount of chips until I went all in with mid pair and he had top pair. Made 2nd and covered the entries for the sit n go's, not that it was my money but wanted to show that i wasn't as bad as my MTT performance.
All in all a fun evening and Johnny and Ed were on form and all seemed to go very smoothly. Nice one.
