i think I made a mistake here. down to last 16 or 17 in a live tournament, 9 or 10 get paid. I had I think about 8 or 9 BBs. The guy to my right had 4 or 5 BBs so we are both short stacks.

I'm on the BB and he says if it gets folded round to us shall we go all in blind? I decided too quickly really, I was thinking that with his stack he pretty much has to go all in with any two cards. If he was going AI anyway I wanted the chance to fold if I had some real crappy hand although my calling range would be very wide. So I said no and he actually passed his hand, he must have had some terrible cards cos he said phew I'm glad you said no.

But thinking about it now a lot the point of pushing ATC here is Fold Equity. If I agree to call blind he has none. We are taking a true 50/50 gamble.

If he had say 88 and showed me his cards and I had AK I would have called so what am I doing turning his offer down here? The silly thing is that if he had asked me to do it on the first hand of the comp I would have probaby agreed to it but when I'm desperate for chips I say no.

I think you did the right thing..The "going all in blind regardless" would only benefit him as he has the most to gain and least to lose. You might be shortstacked but he's in desperate trouble.

You're either there to play poker or not..and all this going all in blind no matter what rubbish is not for me.
