Loved them in their early days, then after Everything Must Go they went downhill quickly. 

Hopefully the new album sees them back on track.  The new single isn't bad.  A bit too 'pop' for me, but it's not too bad.

Although he did very little (except co-write the lyrics), he was certainly an essential element of what made the Manics what they were.  Completely bonkers, and sadly missed.
