Sitting at home this morning on lappy get a msn box pop up from my girlfriends brother it says hey i have created a photo album for you to look at, i clicked accept and got a message in the box about a virus scan failing, i sent him a message back telling him i couldnt accept and str8 away got back a message containing a link which i clicked on, BIG MISTAKE sent my laptop into complete turmoil screens popping up one after the other, couldnt control the mouse, 2 icons appeared on my desktop, anyway had no control had to just shut it off and take battery out. Missus phoned her brother he decided to tell us then dont accept it its a virus i didnt ping u it has automatically sent it on to everyone on my msn list. Got the laptop back on ran a virus scan it didnt detect anything, removed the 2 icons from desktop, repaired wireless connection and reinstalled my msn, everything was working fine again, just wanted to know does anyone think that the virus has gone or is laying dormant on my system somewhere or was it not a virus in the first place?

http://www.rayslab.com/startup_manager/startup_manager.html

Try downloading this, it will show you all the places that a program can auto-launch from, a lot of viruses/trojans park themselves in the registry. This program will show you what is getting run at startup. I sometime use one of these just to eyeball what is there. Have a look and if there is anything that looks suspicious (running from strange folders or weird filenames) post it up. It's not a 100% guaranteed to find everything but it can turn up a few that virus checkers miss, esp. if they are new.

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to mis-attribute this quote to Voltaire.
