Flops like 9-T-J with a flush draw don't really encourage me to bet the A-J on level one. You can lose a lot of chips if someone has K-Q, you can lose a lot of chips if someone has Q-x and wants to chase (and hits), you can lose a lot of chips if someone has T-J or 9-J (standard), you can lose a lot of chips if someone has and chases, you can chop/lose if someone has -J and freerolls for runner runner, you can lose a lot of chips if someone has K-K and plays it to the hilt.

Or you can win a very few chips if nobody has anything.

Once in a while someone will pay you off with K-J (or similar), but even with TPTK, I don't like this flop.

i didn't give him credit for a big hand given the fact he only called a small raise on his BB in position in what would be at most a 3 way pot. this is why i bet hard on the turn. i think KK/QQ was out of the question.

how about 8-8, 9-9 T-T, J-J, J-Q, J-9, J-T, K-Q, or A-x suited in diamonds?

The point is not just that you may already be behind on that flop, but that with that flop there are so many ways to get sucked out on.

If it's late on in a comp (e.g. STT L4 or 5) and there is enough in the middle to justify moving all-in on the flop then I'd probably do it.

But this is L1, there are 180 chips in the middle, you still have 1440 in your stack and even if your hand is good there sooooo many cards you don't want to hit on the next two streets: any king, queen, ten, nine, eight, seven or diamond is a potential disaster.
