Just came second in a Sit N Groan tourney, first time in a while I've gone heads up with someone who just kept pummelling away at me no matter what.

Down to 2, he has 5000, I have 1000. Blinds are 75-150. He loves his button, has been playing it since he became big stack bully.

So in BB I have  , he does his button raise thing to 450. I went all in and lost (naturally).

I know a pair is huge heads up, and both players having pairs is pretty rare, so I know long term I'm ahead. But I've been thinking for a while that given a board is about twice as large as a flop, is the best play here to just call and then go all in on the flop no matter what?

If I reraise all in preflop he has to call. If he does not have a pair the odds against him hitting the flop are quite good, so I may get him to fold if he hits nothing on the flop?

You cant stop and go as any decent player will just call anyway. Just shove and hope to win a flip.
Or (better idea) never get that low to begin with. Smiley

Actually it was that type of tourney, yes, a few more stands-made by myself and I would have had twice the chips heads-up. Mr Bubble Boy got very defiant and stood up to him with KJ, so that was the end of him.
