What about a bigger club though? Like West Ham?
Quality player.

He seems to be a quality player and has said that he is happy at spurs for now. Spurs have said he is not for sale but i seem to remember the same noises coming from Shite hart lane last year about Carrick.
I think Spurs need to keep hold of him if they want to try and break into the top 4 although I also think they need to get about 4 or 5 top quality players aswell. I think this will be hard for them,as although they always seem to have and spend alot of money, with Chelsea buying anything that moves and the money that Liverpool will have next year and Man Utd have always had getting high quality players wont be easy. Even the likes of West Ham, Villa and Man City (if they get taken over) will be splashing the cash about.
it seems these days that unless you have a foreign investor ploughing money into your club like its going out of fashion its going to be hard to compete.

Called "shrewd negotiations". Berbatov has 4 years left on his contract, Carrick only had 2. In 2 years time, Berbatov will still be at WHL and if we are not challenging top 4, then he will be off (he may be sold before then, but only if the club receive a bid in excess of £60million).
As for "you need money to compete" and "you need a foregin sugar daddy" Spurs have spent the 2nd highest amount of money on transfers in the last 3 years and we also have the 2nd richest benefactor in the league, in Joe Lewis.
More importantly however, we have a true fan as our Chairman, the best centre half in the league and we also have the best striker
behind Henry

I beleive, as a complete netural, that times ahead are bright for Spurs
Keep Berbatov for a year, Dawson is excellent, Huddlestone is a potential star
Strengthen at left back particularly and more depth up front/central midfield and with a bit of luck in a years time Berbatov will want to stay
Really enjoy watching the lad play, guv.

Decent assessment from a neutral.
Yet to see the best of Lennon, too.

Decent side but I seriously can't see them breaking into the top 4 next year. Or the year after.

Only 8 points short this season.
And the season before.... but for deliberate food poisoning.....

I can only agree.
As long as they don't fall into the trap of always reducing their squad's average age they'll be a good side in the next year or two.
Even Jenarse is getting better.
