Help Im a beginner
«
on:

Im going to my local casino this evening to play in a comp and just to experience the atmosphere of playing against opponents face to face rather than on the internet games.
Silluy question but what signals or calls do i give to fold, call, raise, check, all in with out it looking to blatant that i am a total novice.
thank you in advance

Shouldn't be a problem, m8.
IF you have any trouble, just take your time and ask the dealer. It was everyone's first time at one point.
Just push your cards forward and let the dealer take them if you want to fold.
For the others, you can't go far wrong if you simply announce. Make a verbal action before you do anything and no one will be able to complain.
1 mistake that novices often make is that they forget they're on the big blind and pass when the action reaches them instead of checking and seeing the free flop.
Hope that helps.

Just say fold, call, raise, check or all in clearly. Dont worry about working out bets - thats what the dealers are there for. When you want to bet say either the amount you wish to raise or say "pot" and the dealer will tell you how much that is.
Dont worry about making the occassional mistake with chips - there are plenty of us out there who still do now
Just take your time and most of all enjoy it........

p.s. keep your cards guarded at all times (use either a card protector or a chip) otherwise if its your turn to speak and you are not watching the dealer will muck your cards without asking

Yes. Just stick a chip on them to protect them. You don't want the dealer to assume you are passing and take your cards.

Skip, just accept the fact that you will be nervous, we all were, don't let them rush you, ask if you don't know something and enjoy it, they cant kill you (unless you go to Annabelles in Coventry)
Good Luck

yes - you dont have to sit there gripping them tightly but just keep something on top of them at all times. as soon as i receive my cards mystic monkey (my card protector) sits on them straight away, then when it is my turn to speak i will look at my hand and decide whether i am going to play or not. if i am then mystic monkey goes back on top of them otherwise i pass them to the dealer.
try not to get into the habit of protecting your cards only when you are going to play in the pot, otherwise other players at the table can soon work out whether you are going to play or pass.

Best of luck Skip you wont be able to help being nervous but just protect your cards and announce when you want to call or raise ect... If in doubt ask , we were all live virgins once! Most importantly enjoy it it;s fantastic fun.

First time i played live, I'm UTG but think that the person to my right is so of course I'm sitting there for a couple of minutes thinking Man this guys taking a long time to act, and I noticing a few people looking at me and I'm thinking come on mate hurry up, then everyone starts laughing and I'm thinking what are they laughing at... Oh no is it my turn? Now every time the cards are being dealt I tell myself what position I'm in.
The +2 is the charge the house take. You pay £22 then £20 for every rebuy.
