I have been toying with the idea of running sats for live festival events on our poker room, and prompted by a post from Suzanne on another thread I though I would run it past you guys.

Its not as easy as it may sound.

Now obviously we wouldnt be able to advertise these as "Satellite to xxxx event at xxxx festival" but we could  work out the price for an event and set the prizes accordingly.

The only downside is that we wouldnt be able to award a seat as a prize, just the cash amount.... and it would then be up to the winner to decide whether he wants to enter the comp or not. So in reality it would just be a blonde comp (see what I mean when i say it isnt easy)

what I would love to do is run a sat for a festival main event where the winner gets the seat and the other 9 finalists get a % of the winner in the comp.

so 10th would get 1%
9th 2%
8th 3%
7th 4%
6th 5%
5th 6%
4th 7%
3rd 8%
2nd 10%

so the winner is playing for 54% of himself in the event and 46% goes to the 9 other finalists in the sat.

Obviously this would need plenty of runners in the sat to make it cost effective ... could we do it ?

Its YOUR card room guys, tell me what sort of things you want on there.

We have the 2k Gtd comps twice monthly , and the sats for these, but without the interest and support from you guys, we will lose them quickly. So over to you lot, what do YOU want from the card room in respect to blonde exclusive comps.

Sounds good to me. I am presuming the share out will be based on trust? How would the pay out be made for 2-10, would this be by transfer via Blonde?

Transfer by Blonde would be the best bet.

Sounds like a laugh, and would certainly get some interest and support from those who have a 'piece' of the winner.  Would these be added value comps?

Dont focus on the % comp, because this would require a big field at a decent buy in level ... its the interest that we need to determine.

Payment would involve the winner paying over the required % either to me or into his/her blonde account and then the moneys would be transferred via the poker room into the other players accounts.

Im more interested in what would get people motivated to join in with the blonde comps, we seem to have a hardcore of 20/25 players who support most things we do, so what would get those numbers up ?

i would be well up for this when i start playing seriously again.

I think what would get the number up is just what is being advertised. The fact a seat at a live festival really should encourage the numbers, dont see what else you can really do.

I dont quite know obviously the money that could be totalled from this but say for a 250 or 500 quid seat in a fezzie (use 500 as its easier to make sense of) how many runners would we need and at what price should the satellite buy in be set for???

The Blonde tournies are always a laugh.  Just need to make sure there's value (KP, Kev, Tikay, etc.) and the hordes will flock in...

Not entirely on the festival topic but anyhow...

I would love to see some kind of league system, perhaps one tourny a week. Running over say 3-6 months. Entry money for each game is pooled and distributed at league end.
Winner could maybe get a private lesson as an additional prize (if wanted) in either tourny play or cash game of their liking (there is a lot of resources avail with the blonde/dtd combo for doing this).

To make it more fun, maybe a different game each week - making it something like a  HORSE league. (not sure if the clients supports the variants, but anyway). Would be fun, and force us to learn the basics of other stuff than just nlth.

Buy in pr. game should be no more than 5-10$ to cater for most peeps.

Cheers.

Agree that the Blonde comps are good fun and also good value. As noted, a lot of us are more recreational and I for one seldom play above $20 tourneys.

Would be happy to splash out at maybe $30-$40 once in a while for the chance of a seat in a decent tourney.

That's one of the reasons the APAT tourneys are so enticing to us lower stakes players.

Count me in.

As for the satellites will depend on what is on offer - buy in etc but if i'm about i will always try to play most blonde games. where else can you find that calibre of mug on a reliable basis?

Anyway back to watching Vicky C talking balderdash and piffle on BBC2, must be due to sitting next to the old fella at the tables i reckon.

excellent idea. I would be up for sats for comps that are relatively near my home unless you're adding expenses as well like Blue Square.

You will need to think about rules about if deals are allowed (I personally think they should be) what happens about extras like winning seats in a grand final or watches or whatever. What happens if someone wins like 100K and says stuff you lot I'm keeping the money etc etc. I'm not trying to be negative I love the idea but I can see some ways that you could get a huge thread out of this.

I take it you mean festival main events? I prob wouldn't bother with a sat to a £250 comp and I'm not sure how much interest they'd be cos where ever it is it's gonna be a long way away for most people. Well up for sats to GUKPT etc.

great feedback guys

I am pretty sure that one of the initiatives for the next few months (in additon to this idea) is another league

Lots of other things at various degrees of progress too.

The reason I brought this up on another thread is because there is a £250 freezeout in Cardiff on 3rd of June and as much as I would love to give it a go its a bit out of my budget as I am sure it is for quite a few of us. I know there are sats in the casino but its not near enough to pop in and try my luck so winning a seat online would be my only option.

I think having Blonde sats is a great idea and I like the idea of sharing the prize money though it sounds a bit complicated but I would definately be up for supporting this.

Personally I would only be interested in playing in sats to games that are resonably near me but for this to work there would have to be continual support and also hopefully by word of mouth others would hear about it  who live in the local area and would play too.

BTW If the poker fairy was tickling my shingles one night and I was to win a game I couldnt play I would be happy with a 32/32 % split ;-)
