Albert calls, Dave calls, Roberto checks his bb.
Flop:    chch  Albert bets 60k (if it gets to him on the flop and no-one's bet, he does seem to take that initiative a very high percentage of the time) and he wins it there.

Roberto pushes in on the small blind when it folds round to him - big blind Raj gives it up.

And Roberto all in next hand too - this time on the button, getting the next set of blinds as well.

Incidentally, this is Neil Carr's first ever live tournament. His brother bought him in as a birthday present. (That's a hint to my brother please. Wink)

I had a feeling he might not have played live too much, or just have an idiosyncratic approach to chip stacking (see photo).  Plus he made that timewasting blind post involving 6 stacks of Ten 100 chips when the big blind was 6k, instead of two quick chips, thereby raising dealer blood pressure, something people tend to learn not to do live pretty fast.

What a great present, though, it's keeping on giving.

Dave and Albert are in a pot.

Board:

Albert bets 120k on the river, Dave calls with K-J and wins after Albert is forced to show A-J.
__________________________________________

Dave limps, Albert raises on the button to 60k, Neil is dwelling in the small blind, but passes, as does Dave.
__________________________________________

Albert limped (as per), Dave makes up and Roberto checks.

I'd give you a flop but it doesn't matter since the blinds check, Albert fires and they both pass, so it become inconsequential.
__________________________________________

Allbert limps once more, (He's apparently still down for the year, even if he wins). He sees a Two Clubs flop with Dave, Roberto and Raj. Bets again and they all pass. Sigh.

Raj on the button moves in over the top of Neil Carr's preflop raise... a countdown later and Neil faces 169k more...Call.
Neil shows:
Raj shows:

Flop:
Turn:
River:

Double up and polite round of applause for short stack Raj.

Flop:

Albert (who else?) bets 50k, Neil (who does a lot of hand over mouth thinking) makes it 150k. Albert calls. (The two most repeated words on the update)

Turn:

Albert checks. Neil moves in for 431k. Albert CALLS!

Neil:

Albert:

River:

Someone finally takes a stand against Albert's constant betting and Albert still manages to call with no hand on the flop. Perhaps this tournament is about to swing another way...

Albert, with dented stack for the first time in a long while, makes it 80k preflop -  pass round.  Tilt appears to be moving anticlockwise...
________________________________

Heads up -   Dave checks, Roberto checks.
Turn:    Dave checks, Roberto minbets and takes that one.
________________________________

Two Diamonds flop, Raj checks it and so do Albert and Neil, they see the turn, check-check-check
River:  check to Neil who gives it a go for 40k - Albert calls.  Neil has the - muck from his caller and some more chips for the birthday boy.

These are the edited highlights - play has slowed somewhat at this point.

Dave raises to 60k, Roberto and Raj pass. Will Albert call? Of course he does. Neil passes.

Flop:

Albert and Dave both check.

Turn:

Check again. I'm not impressed.

River:

Now Albert just decides to muck rather than just check. Pot shipped over to the Hat-wearing man.

Passed to Neil in the small blind, who calls and Dave checks.

Flop:

Neil bets 20k and Dave insta-folds. And the crowd dies a little inside from this tedium.
______________________________________

Albert calls, Dave calls from the small blind and Roberto (who is uber-quiet at the moment)......raises 60k more. Albert manages to push his cards away from himself and Dave passes.

Microbreak, and they're back playing... blinds are now 10k/20k ante 2k.

1) Small blind Neil takes the big blind by raising to 50k.

2) Roberto pushes in preflop over Albert's preflop raise to 50k...presumably Roberto is expecting a call is more likely than not.  But Albert thinks for a good couple of minutes (Roberto silent, for once).  Call.

The collective press gasp as we find Roberto has tried to bluff The Caller of the Tournament:

Roberto shows:  three diamonds
Albert shows:

Flop:
Turn:
River:

And Roberto Romanello is out in 5th place, winning £18,300

two hearts flop seen by Albert and Dave (the latter the raiser).  Albert bets 80k and Dave, glasses perched precariously on the end of his nose where I imagine they are only ever used for focusing on his hole cards, announces all-in.
Albert Sapiano calls.
Dave shows:
Albert shows:
Turn:
River:

Double up for Dave Smith - 563k the figure we overheard - reckon that must put Dave over the million mark if that was the amount to call to Albert...

two hearts Two Clubs board

Dave bets 20k and Raj passes.
________________________

Dave passes, Neil passes, Raj moves in. Albert goes into the tank, but folds. Sorry folks, you can't drink this time.
________________________

Albert raises to 80k, Neil has chips in his hand and re-raises to 200k. Albert says, "All-in." Neil turns his cards over, before calling. Albert complains that Neil hasn't said "Call." But the cards aren't in the muck and Neil calls. (Neil had re-raised enough that he was never folding for the last 50k or so.)

Neil:

Albert:

Board:

Two Diamonds two spades

Albert Sapiano is OUT in 4th place winning £24,000

3-way limped pot.

Flop:

They all check.

Turn:

Raj takes a pop, betting 60k. Insta-passes from the other two. It's interesting, aggression usually pays in poker, and yet the last three seem to have been playing fairly conservative tight poker. We might be here for a while yet.

Flop:

Dave checks, Raj throws in 30k. Dave calls.

Dave checks, and Raj does too.

River:

Pretty unhelpful card, but Dave is going to bet 50k. Raj is thinking...but passes.
