Personally I much prefer the head-to-head rule.
Goal difference is a harsh way to lose a league over a season. I also used to love the old Italian way of a play-off although I'm not sure they do that anymore.
Goal difference is a silly rule and my club has won a title on goal Difference (1986) and also lost one on goal difference (2003) so it's not sour grapes talking as both titles should have gone to a play off IMHO. (although I think we'd have won both play offs

)
How can you decide 38 games worth of toil and effort on who can rattle the most goals past a mid-table side on the last day of the season?
The Italians have the right idea. If you finish level on points it's a play off.
Imagine if Celtic & rangers had to play off for the league? LOL!!
