A HUGE field. Less than 700, but certainly more than 51.

Of course, though Ash Hussain thought I as asleep when I failed to play a single hand in 3 hours on Day One.

I just explained that I have gears.

Ash is running truly bad - I was astonished to hear him tell me this was his FIRST Ranking Final in 2007 - this the man who won the 2006 Rankings through sheer consistency!

He made the Final, which had one or two relatively "inexperienced" players in it, & this happened.

Blinds are 2k 4k, he makes it 12k pre-flop, the first hand he'd played in 45 minutes at the Final Table. (Several of us had (independently) decided to pretty much "sit out" the first few levels to sort the wheat from the chaff, as there were scary all-in moves galore from the Newbies going off).

Huge Chip Daddy, a totally unknown quantity who had a wheelbarrow full of chips, moves all-in, Ash says "call" for I dunno, maybe 60k.

Ash shows  , Newbie shows  & says "Thought he had Kings, I'll hit two pair, I'm not that far behind".

Flop.....

Mr Hussain is not a man in Form.

The Chip Counts were, I think, 192k,197k & 202k (me), & so we split the £18,000 equally.

class rises to the top tikay and he will be back. He has had a poor run stretching back quite away and its only a matter of time for him. He is still playing well just keeps getting these type hands- luckily though he hasn't let it effect his game (unlike when I went through a similar run I changed my game as I saw the nuts whenever I got reraised so caused my own demise most of the time by playing weak).

When we broke from 3 tables to 2, Ash joined my Table with maybe 70k, way above average, probably double.

We had a nightmare Calling Station who had about 55k.

It's Passed round to Calling Station (CS) who limps for 1k. Ash, in the Big Blind, thinks & thinks, then says "all-in", thinking that'll get rid of Mr CS.

Mr CS announces "I've already Passed this hand once tonight, I can't pass it again", & calls all-in, showing KQ. Ash had 3-3, the K & Q both flopped.

Good read or bad play, take your pick!

wow great result sir!!!

And just have to add, OMFG!!! How those 2 players called is unbelievable. To say oh i thought you had kings and still call with QJ is incredible and as for the "ive already passed KQ once tonight"- idiot! Risking his tourney life on KQo- lol.

Not only do i have to work with him but also had to do a winners interview! "so TK tell me about the final hand........."

Top result for the old man though.

Now if only he was as lucky at picking greyhounds as he is at cards........................
