Hi, I am starting to learn Hold em and would like to play for low stakes at a poker table. Would be great if any of you would know a venue in London where beginners are welcome. Thanks a lot.

What part of London, please?

As a general rule, there are very few Cardroms which specifically cater for beginners, though some take care of them better than others.

Please PM me, on the blonde PM Service & I may be able to assist.

Welcome to blonde.

I go to the Western Club on a Thursday for a £20 double chance tourney - all friendly and welcoming - they let me in anyway Smiley

If you just want to get experience of playing live in a beginner friendly environment, you could try one of the non gambling pub leagues.  I'll PM you details of the one I go to, not sure if the link will allowed.

Sorry Claire - it's because it's subsequently been (sensibly) merged into this thread.

Just a thought and I know that plenty will not agree but I learnt from Day1 at Luton which even for the rookie night which was a £10 rebuy was considered fairly tough. I would have to say in my own case that it was probably the best mistake I made as I learnt more from the likes of Willie Tann, Steve Templeman and other players of a similar standard than I might have otherwise have done. That being the case depending on where you are in London your choices are pretty good. I would be pleased to give you my opinions if you pm me. Of course what suits one does not suit all. wherever you decide to go I wish all the best.
